I think they move because of enchantments placed on the painting when it’s finished, so if there was no enchantment accompanying the painting, it wouldn’t move, regardless of who is in it. Same for photos, because Colin Creevey was psyched to find out that if he developed the film in a specific solution, his image would move around, and he could send it to his family back home. 🤔

25:18 In D&D terms, the difference between a wizard, a sorcerer, and a warlock is very distinct. A wizard gets all their magical abilities through book learning, magical research, that sort of thing. A sorcerer gets their abilities because they inherited it from their parents. And a warlock gets a very small amount of magic (comparatively) from an otherworldly being. Okay but the class designation of the apocalypses in Loki made no sense. You would think that they either build up to a max (like Categories of Hurricanes, with 5 being the worst) or go down to 1 or 0 (with the lowest number being either the destruction of the universe or the creation of a multiverse). However, throughout the entire season we see documentation of 4 apocalypses... and their class designations make no sense. The first apocalypse we see is of Ragnarok, the destruction of Asgard. This is classified as a Class Seven Apocalypse. This doesn’t immediately give us an idea of the scale, as we still do not know if the Class designations count up or down. The next apocalypse we learn of is the Roxxcart Disaster in Haven Hills, Alabama in 2050. This is classified as a Class Ten Apocalypse. This is weird, because the apocalypse is classified by the company that owns the town and not by the CATEGORY 8 hurricane that was present. Now a category 8 hurricane is only theoretical at the moment, but it is estimated that there would be winds between 300-400 miles per hour strong. You would think the TVA would name the apocalypse after the hurricane destroying everything, and not the company that owned the town where the apocalypse took place... unless Roxxon had something to do with the storm??? But that’s beside the point. We now have two apocalypses: Ragnarok, the destruction of an entire planet, classified as a Class Seven Apocalypse, and the Roxxcart Disaster, the destruction of an entire town, classified as a Class Ten Apocalypse. This would make it seem as if the classification of apocalypses counts down as it becomes more intense, as the destruction of a planet is worse than the destruction of a town (even though more people died in the Roxxcart disaster than in Ragnarok). The third apocalypse that we see a file for is for the Battle of New York. Now this is seen during the credits roll of Episode 3 at a time stamp of 36 minutes and 38 seconds. Most of the file is covered up, but we do get to see that the Battle of New York, yes that Battle of New York from Avengers (2012) is classified as a Class Two Apocalypse. Now this is strange as the Battle of New York shouldn’t be worse than Ragnarok, you know, where a planet was destroyed... But if we stop to think, we can make it work. Thanks to Avengers Endgame and now the Loki tv show we have seen that the Battle of New York concludes with Loki escaping and the events of this season of Loki taking place. If we take into account everything that this Loki did in this season and realize that it all happened because of the Battle of New York, we see that the Battle of New York actually had bigger consequences than even Ragnarok did. So it’s kind of weird, but I can now see how the Battle of New York could be a Class Two Apocalypse, but we still have one more to get to. (As an aside, if you wanted to try classifying apocalypses by the number of people killed in them, the Battle of New York canonically was responsible for 74 deaths total, making it seem as if the apocalypses count up as the death toll rises. However this will not matter in the end.) A few seconds later (still in the credits roll of Episode 3), we see our fourth and final TVA file about an apocalypse in Season 1. This apocalypse.... was Loki pulling a prank with Heimdall and Thor, where he played the MCU’s version of D. B. Cooper. Somehow, the TVA classified this as an apocalypse. However that’s not the worst part. The worst part is this apocalypse is classified as a Class Three Apocalypse! This makes no sense! (No one died from this apocalypse which is why it does not make sense to classify apocalypses by the death toll they accumulate.) We already rationalized how the classification system could be counting down, with a Class One or Class Zero being the lowest. It took a bit of finagling to make the Battle of New York fit, but we did it. But now Loki hijacking a plane, inciting a riot, and creating a bomb threat (all on the TVA’s file for this apocalypse) is somehow either worse or better than the Battle of New York, while being the opposite for Ragnarok??? The TVA’s classification of apocalypses is broken and makes zero sense. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.

Not HP related but the reason why Vesuvius was an Apocalyptic event wasnt the scale but the fact that everybody died therefore modifying anything in their life immediately prior to that would have no effect on the timeline. Think like dyeing your hair pink just before shaving it all off. It wouldn't matter.
