What’s best? A River Cruise or Ocean Cruise?

Great vlog Jamie. I'm lucky to of done both types. My river cruises were different to each other too as one was the Nile and the other the Rhine. The Nile cruise was much more intense, lots of very early mornings to avoid crowds and the height of the heat and a more strenuous experience overall. Thr Rhine was more relaxed, we did a lot of things at our own pace with it being so easy to stroll around the city we were at. I absolutely loved both experiences but i definitely love the wow factor of an ocean cruise ship and just being able to see nothing but sea for miles.

I love the look of the ocean cruises you've done with all the facilities but I also like the sound of the river cruises with them being smaller ships and being able to dock in the centre of the towns. But I guess I'm going to have to try them both to personally see which I prefer more.

I’d love to try a river cruise, so many of the itineraries sound fabulous I’d be spoilt for choice, but would love to go back to Budapest and sail the Danube 😊 And thank you for the shout-out!

We’ve done a number of ocean cruises, all amazing. We did our first river cruise last down Mississippi from Memphis to New Orleans on the American Queen Steamboat which was also an amazing experience and completely different to Ocean Cruises. Hoping to do an European River cruise at some point

my major concern about a river cruise is the "intimacy". this is so antisocial, I know lol - but when myself and my partner ( and guide dog :-) ) go on a cruise, we want to be able to be by ourselves, as this is our time when we get to spend quality time together - and on a river cruise, I worry about not being g able to be just the two of us, like on an ocean liner - as you say, where you can easily become invisible ...Terry x

I find you can be as social or not as you want. It was great for people who wanted to get to know others and at the same time, for us personally, the peace and quiet was amazing. We ate and drank on our own through choice, had the spa to ourselves, barely anyone on top deck…exactly what we wanted
