I think the one thing that stands out to me (other than I just fall in love with him every time I watch this) is how humble he is. After he rips up the stage and almost seems to go into a different state while performing he looks up as if he just came back to the planet. His smile is infectious and that look is like a bright eyed kid at Christmas that just got a new puppy.

B BG Nah, he's neither arrogant or over confident. You can see in this video that he is amazed at the audience reaction. He's actually a really good guy-he's just not 'the norm' which is very refreshing. He's currently in the top 6, and doing well. Hopefully he wins the show. :)

B BG In reality, the "general impression" is that Dean is VERY well liked. His FB page has over 15, 000 likes, he's got 5 songs selling well in iTunes, he's a favorite to be in the final. I know Dean and lived with him 9 years ago in a student hostel in Chinchilla. He went out with my sister for a while. He's definitely not arrogant, he's a hard working humble and friendly guy. FuzzyElf I think it's all about the mental state he was in when he took this decision. And maybe at the time, it felt like the only way to be free. Did you never wish you had the guts to go out there and make your own decisions ? make your own way ? I think it took him some courage to do that. It's not dumb. It's just a different way to own your life. And as you said, he did manage to become who he wanted to be because he did it.

Interesting and charismatic guy...rather like a combination of Elvis Presley and Jim Morrison. At first I thought he was full of himself, but he seemed genuinely surprised to get the positive reactions from the crowd, and very appreciative of the judges' comments. That did it for me. He's a cutie who definitely can play and has great stage presence. I'm anxious to REALLY hear his voice!
