I use the exact same torque wrench, and it's what I used to rebuild a J35A3.

R70 block? Different style oil pick up then 32a2 & 35a4.
@PowerRevRacing2 жыл бұрын
Yes the R70 blocks use a plastic oil pickup compared to the j32a2 and j35a4 which use a metal pickup. Also R70 uses the newer style bellhousing. So it's a totally different block.

Does the orientation of the oil drive gear matter? In terms of that notch cut out? Should it be facing up or down or no particular direction in regards for timing?

ok looking to buy a block ,but undecided on another type s motor or get a j37 instead 🤔

Do you ever use a dry sump and does anyone make a dry sump oil system for the J series?
@PowerRevRacing2 жыл бұрын
I don't personally have much experience with dry sump setups. Though I have a dry sump setup here that I want to mess around with when I get some time.

@@PowerRevRacing cool, would love to see how you do with it.

Hello, can you tell me what is the tightening torque for the crankshaft bolts and connecting rods of the J3.5 engine block?
@securityguy2 жыл бұрын
I noticed you applied Hondabond around the outside of the odd shaped double o-ring on top of the oil pump, which has a very narrow edge. Now the service manual tells you to go around the inside of that only. I thought about doing this when I resealed the oil pump last time on my J30A5 but is this really safe to do? Wouldn't the goop get all over the o-ring itself?
@PowerRevRacing2 жыл бұрын
Yeah so generally you only need to go along the bottom side. The hondabond won't cause o-ring issue unless over applied.

I bought an Acura MDX, 2002 for only $1700. It's in amazing shape. No dents, absolutely no rust, everything works. Not a single drop of oil leaking anywhere on it. Dual climate COLD AC that blows hard in your face. Has 3 rows of tan leather seats that fold down, heated mirrors, heated seats, moon roof, virtually new tires all around. It's AWD, with the 3.5L Vtec (J35A3)-- only 155k miles. I've driven it for 2 years now with zero issues..... I love this thing. Does anyone know if there is a Manual Transmission swap for these? If I could keep the AWD system and have a 5spd or 6spd manual transmission, it would be a dream. My automatic works great, it doesn't have any issues at all. I've just always owned manual transmissions and I wish I could get one to put in this MDX.
