Huge thank you for the sound library you did for the Nord Stage 3, the patches you made have really helped change my point of view on sound design, and see how much value it has in a composition, and how it can drive melodic ideas. Apart from Nord, you’ve become one of my keyboard heroes. Thank you for showing us this, and you have yourself a great day. 🙌🙌🙌

Thank you Julian! Amazing video 🙂 in live contest, how do you connect 2 or more keyboards to the mono chain? Do you use any mixer or DI system?
@surf_thermals3 ай бұрын
Julian. First, thank you for all the fantastic videos. I've learned so much following you. Grateful! Your great demos are one of the reasons I ordered my Vintage Vibe Marquis. I just love how that instrument sounds. So, I read the VV has an effects loop you can run before the signal hits the preamp. Do you ever run effects before the preamp? ... or is it preferred to have the effect chain post mono output,... or an effect loop from the mixer?
@kmjansen2 жыл бұрын
I was wondering if you believe in the need to convert keyboard outputs to low-impedance through a re-amper before running them through effects pedals? I can't tell if I'm being sold a bunch of marketing bologna by music shops' channels so I'd love if you'd chime in. Thanks for all the great content!

Omg that tone dude. Wow. Man… lush! Helps to have those boards. Gear lust acquired. Any recommendations on running vsts from your uad to this set up? Been looking into getting a reamp box and some pedals for some hands on manipulation of sound. Especially using orchestra going though these types of pedals.
@MrCowfood3 жыл бұрын
The entire top row of pedals has a line lvl/guitar lvl switch, no re-amp needed there. My one Meris pedal has a way to go line lvl as well (polymoon), guessing the Meris line is cool this way throughout? If you intend to experiment with other guitar only pedals then a re-amping could help, although just adjusting your line lvl instruments volume can achieve the same in a lot of cases.

Solid pedal board. Haven't you ever found the BigSky to be ""too good""? I sold mine after a few months. It was just too "realistic" of a reverb. Up to a degree where this "perfectness" actually killed the magic of the sound, or the project. Or at least I felt that way.

Great video! I was disappointed when I discovered using stutter on my Ottobit switches it from stereo I/O to stereo sum to mono. But, I chose to use my Tensor as stereo sum to mono (wet) and stereo passthru (dry), in order to have the max loop time available. 🤷♂️

Dear Julian. Thank you for this awesome introduction to your pedal world. For me it would be incredibly interesting how you rout your Fender and the Prophet, since you seem to use them in both, the stereo signal path (Moebius Timeline Big Sky) and in the mono signal path (ElCapitan, Mercury7, etc.) at the same time. Have you connected them via an aux/sent loop, which would always have the same effects on both, or do you split the signals? I guess you don't want to use the same effects on each keyboard at the same time and in the same order, do you? Do you have the Moebius in a signal path with the Timeline and the BigSky? I always thought that modulating effects should be patched in via insert while delays and reverbs via aux/sent. But in this case you would only have the Moebius available for one instrument? How do you combine a stereo keyboard (e.g. Nord Stage) and a synth with just a mono output with the inputs to the pedals? Do you use a looper? Do you have a midi clock to set all pedals speed at the same time? Best regards. Sebastian
@j3po7843 жыл бұрын
All keyboards in my studio are routed directly into my interface. From UAD Apollo Console, you can route any keyboard or combination of keyboards through the stereo effects rig, the mono rig, or the mono rig into the stereo rig. If you turn the pedals all completely wet, then you can use them as sends in your DAW. Very flexible and easy to use.

Can pedals be hooked up to multiple synths via a mixer? I heard that pedals don’t have a good time connected to mixers. Examples I heard of are pedals being damaged. How do I hook up multiple pedals to one synth without damaging them?
@timtsistinas2 жыл бұрын
I know this is a long time after you asked, but a patchbay is your best friend for patching multiple keyboards into effects. You dont have to keep plugging/unlpugging cables into your effects.

sometimes I wonder, those are cool pedal boards ... or it's just because you are such a good keyboard player and a sound-vision-kinda-person. meaning, even with those cool boards I could only produce crappy "art." ha ha ha.

how do you use the same stereo pedalboard to add effects to multiple keyboards? do you route it through the audio interface? because i have multiple keyboards but i want to be able to use the same effects whilst still having separate inputs to my interface.
