Julian “J3PO” Pollack is a Los Angeles-based pianist/keyboardist and producer described by Timeout New York as a musician who “deftly balances virtuosity with tenderness.” Julian is known for his innovative use of keyboards and synthesizers in jazz, fusion, hip-hop, and electronic styles of music. Julian has toured extensively with the legendary artist Marcus Miller, as well as performing and recording with artists such as Talib Kweli, David Sanborn, Chris Botti, Michael League, Eric Harland, and many others. Julian has worked closely as a sound designer with keyboard/synth companies Nord Keyboards, Sequential, and Oberheim, and has created factory presets for the Prophet 5, the Oberheim OB-X8, Take 5, Nord Stage 3 & 4, Nord Wave 2, and many other commercially available keyboards. In addition to these hardware keyboard companies, Julian also has done sound design for Universal Audio (most recently, Opal, a new wavetable synthesizer), Softube, Cherry Audio, and Spectrasonics.

It's beautiful for me to know that as the original vintage electric pianos start to get a little rare or crumbly, we will still have beautifully crafted instruments like this around. Weird seeing this thing unboxed brand new, I thought they only could be found with 50 years of character.

@@Astrothunder_ true, but keep in mind if you buy a Rhodes and keep it in good condition it will always have about the same resale value as what you bought it for--maybe more

@@Astrothunder_ I don't know how expensive Rhodes are, but Vintage Vibe still isn't cheap AT ALL. The basic cheapest version costs ~$6k, which for me, here in Poland is... practically just impossible to afford. I would have to save money for it for like 15 years or something. Luxury item. Period. :/

Sounds awesome. However, I don‘t understand why they kept the rounded top of the early Rhodes models which makes it difficult to put a synth on it.

I put double stackers on top of mine and the Deep Mind and Prophet 5 fit fine. I wouldn't want my analog synths heating up directly on my Rhodes. Just a thought. Cheers

I think I can ask you a question I watched a documentary on vintage vibe, and the guy was saying they were having problems with some of the magnets being demagnetize. probably put another keyboard on top something about the electrical on the other keyboard may demagnetize.

​@@jeffreyreid6981 it's always possible, but I doubt an analog synth placed on top would affect the magnetic coils, or vise versa. If so, that in itself is a major design flaw of this keyboard

Love my MK1 hot-rodded with the RetroFlyer though! Thats how I first found out about Julian was while researching the RetroFlyer! I wound up sending my Rhodes (A contractor friend of mine found it in a dumpster!) up to Avion Studios to be lovingly restored by Morgen.
