I worked at the most expensive boys private school in Melbourne and the sad fact about boarders is many of them are sent to board when they live locally! Some as young as five. The parents don't want them at home and have the money to send them away It's not always the case obviously but it happens. Very sad

Once I finished school and moved back home, my brothers decided they were ready to go home too, so my parents enrolled them into boarding school. They said it was most fun they’ve ever had at school 😄

Actually a lot of local parents sent their kids to top boarding schools as young as 5 because the SCHOOL tells them there's no spot for their kids, unless if they board. So a lot of the parents choose to board and hope that a non-boarding place will eventually turn up.
