A little thing I noticed, because my sim magic haptic motor is fitted the same way on my heusinkveld pedals. Your motor is loose and it always gets loose because the two little screws don't hold with the vibrations. I suggest to use lock tite on the screws or a strong contact glue. That's what I did, it stops the motor from getting loose and you will feel the abs or lockups much more. Also if you can add 4 buttkickers or other bass shakers its less expensive than motion and very cool for immersion and extra informations when set properly, especially when using VR. It makes the rig feel alive.

If not I'll be happy working the pits, or just an automechanic shop. I love cars, I want to make my career and life out of them. This video is a huge inspiration to me knowing there are people out there just like me who can get the career and the opportunity to do something so incredible. Amazing video.

yeah Suello against it. I like VR 😂
@Hani_Santa2 күн бұрын
@@AL.farmlife haha yes his reasoning is logical from a certain standpoint. His point is it's more intense and you get more sweaty and it's harder to get good fps and usefull overlays and good resolution. All valid points for pro sim racers from a competitive perspective. But if you are a real racer you want an experience that emulates real life as close as possible and the depth perception makes a huge difference to learn a track fast and efficient, braking points and so on. So if you are an actual racer, I think VR is the better tool and offcourse VR glasses and PC hardware is getting better and better. Eventually I am convinced the majority will race in VR.

You're absolutely right about motion - at best it can aid immersion and provide a certain amount of information for a "sim racer", but for you it's going to be sending the wrong signals - a motion rig simply doesn't translate to real world driving. It's expensive, and you probably won't get the benefit in the way that you actually need.

Good to see how well the transition from sim to real helps. I've also found it also works well from real to sim. Having driven cadwell park in various peugeot hot hatches when the track was released on iracing i was literally only a couple of tenths away from one of the fastest mx5 drivers on iracing where as I'm normally about a second off. Quest 3 is awesome got it paired with a 9800x3d ( blows the 7800x3d easily away ). A Buttkicker gamer plus adds incredible immersion in vr. Gives me better car control as I feel road texture/bumps, losing traction, locking up, gear changes. Will try haptic pedals next.

The haptic feedback on the pedals is a good idea. Maybe look into haptic feedback for the seat where you can attach something beneath your seat and feel more of the car and its effects on the track. That way you dont have to invest so much into a motion rig which isnt even that good but can still further immerse yourself especially combining everything together

I would absolutely look at getting the Qubic BT-1 belt tensioner. Its not cheap, but its fantastic for immersion and simulating g-force, as well as haptics such as engine vibrations through your body. Since I've added this to my rig, its been amazing. As for motion, since Simhub has come out with motion support, I find the SFX-150 system I use (e-Racing Labs) and using Simhub not only adds to the immersion, but I cannot detect any delay at all. You can pick up this setup for relatively cheap too (about $3k USD shipped). Start with the BT-1 first, you wont be disappointed.

Super honest video - thank you 😊. A lot of great comments here that I'll second. Seeing you using VR is awesome. The youtube 'Race Beyond Matters' is excellent for all sim related hardware and the Slip Angle 4 corner base shakers are very very good. In my humble opinion, the next best upgrade without going full motion is the QS-BT1 dual seat belt tensioner. (See Race Beyond Matters review). I ordered one a week ago. On the topic of motion though, I have a D-Box gen 5 motion rig and spent a good amount of time tweaking it. Its true that most folks overdo the actual motion. Too much travel, it needs to be shorter, quicker movements. Im also in VR and the combination is mad! I'd love to see what you think of my rig. If you are keen, the offer is there. Im an hour outside of London. Genuine offer but no stress either way. 😊

quest3 has unlimited playtime wired you won't win anything there. bigscreen has 10degree smaller fov, smaller sweat spot, worse lenses clarity, only 90hz against 120 and it drops resolution to 1920x1920 on 90hz which is way lower then quest3. it's literally a downgrade on all fronts except comfort.

Like others, I would say some haptics. I’d do at minimum a left /right set up on the seat which gives a lot of that seat of the pants feel of the road and curbs etc when dialed in properly. I am absolutely messed up now if I forget to turn them on. I’ve also added front left / right to isolated heal plates that has also added. And run the road and curb effects through them. Then using the simagic sim the heus pedals run abs on the brake and tc/slip on the throttle. Would be interesting to see how that in particular would benefit or hinder having that information to a real racer through the actual pedal vs feeling the slip of the car in the wheel and seat.

hey James, great video. The reason you´re are faster at sim, is not only the exploits, as you call it. Mostly its because you´re BoPed else in the sim. As an example GT3 is BoPed in SRO else like in WEC (slow because LMP2 must be quicker). When a GT3 car leaves the factory there is no BoP and this is what Assetto Corsa gives you, when i am right. Just the BOP of the Devs, which is mostly as close to factory Spec as it gets.

I resisted for a long time thinking them mildly gimmicky given my previous experience with the weak little haptic/rumble motors on the Fanatec V3s. Added a couple HPRs to a set of HE Ultimate+ brake and throttle and holy smokes. Was very surprised by how effective it is at giving ABS feedback on brake when you crank the gain up to 90% or higher. Throttle arguably less utilitarian, but can add some immersion-enhancement with stuff like slip/traction loss, impacts/kerbs and/or simple stuff like gear shift jolts. Wholeheartedly recommend them, can't overstate how useful it is on the brake when trying to ride on that limit of ABS or lock.

No need for motion. -Impossible to simulate sustained loads, laggy, initial jolt in opposite direction (watch Niels Heusinkveld's vid), requires lot of rig changes (move everything not essential or that may not like movements/vibrations, eg. integrated monitor mount/keyboard & mouse mounts, PC shelf, simhw PSUs, for sake of lightening weight & reducing inertia) and despite that costs a lot for something that is gimmick & makes one slower. You might consider belt tensioners (also laggy, but able to generate sustained loads), and bass-shakers/transducers. For later, possible extra need of vibro-decoupling or otherwise they will be of limited effectiveness on of little-flex rigid & heavy rig. Be it putting whole rig on springs (if 4 shakers in corners), or vibrodecoupling just pedal mount plate & seat (with addition to ellastic vibrodecouplers + hinge, to limit a bit added flex). While also a bit of gimmick, but at least not for motion platform money. Considering windsims useless/gimmick immersion wise (with speed regulation depending on speed telemetry), though physical knob adjusting cooling of self (especially if wearing heat generating VR set) to reduce sweating will be helpful. Unrealistic though, as otherwise you need hot air blower on you, to simulate 50C in cockpit or real race car :) . Apart from cooling, some extra small quality of life bits, like headphones/VR set hangers, spare wheel mounts, cup holder, cable management, easily accessible USB charging ports or power socket block.
