Problem with diamond formation is the difference in position makes using compass more difficult. Player at tip of diamond says 2 contacts 120. Everyone looks 120 and it’s off a little bit depending on position. I suggest box formation to make it easier. Also the weakness in formations is being too close or too far apart from teammates, that they can’t help you. If too close, doesn’t have the angle, if too far, perhaps something is in the way, depends on the situation, could be front people go first down a hill and get shot from a blind spot, because you only check your section, and your teammate covering that blind spot just doesn’t have a shot yet... That second to get to position could spell doom to team

Pubg squad mode is all about angle creation, the team that have more angles than their opponents wins 9/10 times.
