I couldn't agree more. Too many hours to sort and search. At what point is it worth the labor? The cards I've found like this are always picked through anyway, the stars left behind by the original owner are usually in poor conditions.Few collectors, except beginners perhaps, want mid-late 1980s early 90s cards anymore, that's why they end up in Thrift Stores.
@jgarrison13096 жыл бұрын
Check out the 1974 Willie Stargell. It's at 27:11 The original owner whited out the "outfield" and wrote in "1st Base" with a pen. That's exactly what a kid my age (at the time) would have done. LOL

Hey Erik, Some decent cards I seen in the Football lot are the 77 Largent is a Rookie (Last time I looked it up, it Booked for $50), The 77 Lynn Swann is his Last Card from his Playing Days (Due to a Dispute with Topps I believe) That books for $25 last I checked. and the 78 Walter Payton is $20-$25 I think. Of course there Mid Grade but anyways, You have an idea. The rest of the Football are in the $2-$5 range Roughly. 57 Herzog is a HOF Rookie. George Kell, Great TTM Grapher up until he passed. The 2 old Team Cards are from the 1957 Topps set.

I went to our local thrift store the other day. I'm the "local Financial Advisor"....so, I avoid the store (possible clients seeing me at a thrift store?). Anyway, I was blown away by the amazing items that I found for little to no money! I found a number of Nike Polo type shirts that still had the price tags on them, they were selling for $0.99 each ! You're talking about shirts that run $30 - $60 new!! I also found a number of vintage items 4 ridiculously low prices! I've come to the general conclusion, we live in the most wasteful country on planet Earth ! People often buy things, or receive gifts, and never ever use the item ! Instead of trying to sell it on eBay or even a garage sale, they just simply donate it to be done with it. Needless to say, I will be going to that thrift store a lot more often!
@JerkyJones1006 жыл бұрын
Most people shopping at thrift stores don't have financial advisors. But that being said if you're an advisor worth anything then you'd know thrift stores are a good place TO SAVE MONEYYYY! And if any potential customers saw you they'd probably think "this guy likes to save money, he'd make a good financial advisor. I'm choosing him." Just a question are you under the age of $25?
@b-man12326 жыл бұрын
@@JerkyJones100- no, I'm in my forties. Our thrift store has volunteers...there's a few of those ladies that are very good clients (have a lot of $$ with me). Yes, I've reached a point where I kinda don't care. I love saving money on items that I use or wear all the time!!

I was on a flight with Goose recently but did not realize it until I was at the bag pickup. He must have been heading to the Hall of Fame for some event during the induction weekend. I had been at an Oakland game while traveling out west and had an A's ball. Unfortunately his bag came and he left before my bag arrived on the belt. Such is the case with so many things. Several years ago I was picking my nephew up at the airport and Wade Boggs walked past me while I was looking for my nephew. You never know who you'll see at the airport.

Old timer here,..I'm so tired of the overproduced years, most commons, & damaged, banged corners, edge wear, and creased cards that one day I'm just going to purge my whole collection down to mint stars & sets only (on the 1975 & up cards). One day when you walk into the thrift store by me you'll see a whole isle of my rejects and I guarantee you'll not find one card worth more than 5 bucks, but lots of them will have book prices of !0, $20, $50.00 or more. Too many people don't understand that in today's "mint only" market that the big buyers, the hard cash paying collector no longer wants a damaged card in his collection anymore. Many will not even look at a 1986 to 1993 unopened box, at any price over 5 bucks each. The 1980s brought me into collecting, the 1990s amazed me with the clever inserts, the 2000s awed me with Relics and Signed cards and the 2010s taught me the value of PSA 10 graded vs non graded nrmt. The money is in graded cards kids. Don't bother with the rest. Except complete sets from the pre 1980 era,
