Don't call every South Indian mallu because you actually don't know about them. They have 4 outstanding industries and those are Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam. One thing I want to say is... Having over the top action which is turned to an eleven.. DOESN'T mean "it is not taking itself seriously"....... Like many people think. It's just the style of it... Just like an anime, especially an action shonen type... Which also has over the top action.. cool moments but simultaneously has very much emotionally intense moments, characters, plot. People liking RRR is because it's style, screenplay and visual storytelling, fights, action, layered structure, and focusing on characters.. etc are all the same reasons one likes an anime like One piece or Attack on Titan or any other emotion driven shonen action anime. Even in live action if the superhero treatment of the characters and fantastic elements are established from the beginning, then there is not need to make it seem like something over the top, as the superhero treatment established at the beginning itself warrants for suspension of disbelief and if the scenes are cool af, then there is no need to even notice the fantastical elements to be something out of place and considering them not to be taken seriously... As in case of RRR, even those superhero-esc scenes are grounded in strong emotion, as well as in-universe dynamics. The fact that many people liked RRR, shows that there is a potential that mainstream audience will also like anime... However only because it is animation, people have prejudice against the animation as a medium, which makes them shun anything from that anime industry even though they clearly are liking and enjoying the anime-like elements present in RRR. So i feel movies like RRR r required to atleast give mainstream audience some exposure to what they are missing in the anime content. If i had to put RRR in a genre, I'll put it in Epic, action, drama, periodical/historical fantasy - anime style PS: Sintell remembering AOT made my day!

RRR literally reminds me of Hunter x Hunter. I am also an anime lover and watched a lot of them. But, still there is something special about RRR. May be it is its Indianness. For a better understanding of some animes, we have to go through some of Japanese or Buddhist or even Christian mythical and religious references which are mainly alien to us. But, in case of RRR, we just knew it all along from our childhood days and that's why it really feels like we, Indians, are deeply connected with it. It is something that deeply rooted in our history and mythology something that belongs to us.

@@piyalidasgupta4190 that's what i said, mahabharata, even though I haven't read it fully, just knowing the characters of the story or history (whatever suits your beliefs), the characters are frickin deep, Mahabharata covers every aspect of humanity, that's why, no story has the gal to reach to that level, only aot is little near, and maybe breaking bad and better call Saul also, but being near doesn't mean they are there, they are still far away from Mahabharata, if i would be a millionaire, i would pay all my money just to make indian anime based on Mahabharata, completely authentic, without any changes from the real story (except some creative liberties for animation).
