When it comes to Indian romances which celebrates or premises itself on the themes of sacrifice and duty and longing, I feel this duo - Steph and Andrew (also throw in Achara) - is perfect! We want them together to watch Devdas and other such films!! Loved the way they reacted and understood the complexity of what the director wanted to convey, unlike other reactors who often throw overly simplistic value judgements over these beautiful films. Since you both loved the music so much, let me take a moment to credit Ismail Darbar ji, who also composed the music for Devdas - another Sanjay Leela Bhansali legendary movie. Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam was his debut and he proved his talent just through the music of this movie. He worked on only very few Bollywood albums, but still he is one of the best music composers in India that emerged from the 90s. It's said that SLB learned a lot of lessons from him about music composition, which later helped SLB compose the songs himself for his later movies. For a movie named Kisna, when A. R. Rahman had to leave the project half-way due to his commitment to a Hollywood project, Ismail Darbar ji was asked to compose the rest of the songs. Many people from the audience didn't recognize that the songs were composed by 2 different composers. Even the director said that he felt no difference between their tracks. That's his talent! It's sad to see him not work much anymore, and all the controversies surrounding him.

I would suggest you guys watch Alaipayuthe (in Tamil - original) or Saathiya (in Hindi), which deals with the immaturity of new lovers, how it affects their lives as time passes, and eventually how they mature while still in love. I'm happy to see that Alaipayuthe is requested more than Saathiya. I am from the south, I have watched both the original and the remake, and loved both. But there's something very raw and artistic about the original that I want it to get more recognition than it got. Also, I am still salty about Jaby showing the Hindi remake of Drishyam to his guests instead of the original in Malayalam 😂 don't get me wrong, both Lalettan and Ajey ji did a great job, but there's something raw and artistic about the original that I wish more people saw. It's these factors that resulted in the movie getting remade into multiple languages, including Chinese, and each remake performed well amongst their respective audience. I hope they show the original more.

Because after this Sallu bhai wasn't able to get over Aishwarya, Bhai ka pyaar Abhishek le gaya jaise idhar Vanraj le gaya tha. In that movie ajay devgan vanraj in this movie hum dil de chuke sanam, did a fabulous job as a head of the family, father. One more think however that movie drishyam is a remik Or copy of telugu Or South movie of South india film industry that movie is the thinking and making of South india only. The writing of that both parts of drishyam is outstanding and commendable. You will itself get goosebumps and stunned by itself by the all characters and the story. Please see and react.

Nandini's father used the "guru-datchina" ploy to deny his daughter her love. But I am proud that I performed my duty in my marriage to Raj Kapoor with my heart soul and body. It might seem cold but it was a conscious decision and I chose to love my husband. While I didn't really choose to fall in love with Rajkumar it just happened. You might not agree with her some might find her arguments a lie or silly. But if you see the film you don't doubt her intentions. You might say that she is lying to herself but it stems from sincerity not opportunism and malice.

As much as I HATED the male characters in Sangam, I did appreciate that Radha had waaayyyy more agency than Nandini (pathetically sad considering Sangam was made decades earlier). Btw, appreciate the classic Hindi film ref. Rarely ever see those in discussions about modern BW movies.

Because towards the end everyone forgot that Salman made that sacrifice because of her father’s request. Even then I realise that he could’ve said no to the father and went ahead anyways because even Ajay Devgan went against his parents albeit after talking it through. If only Salman’s character was allowed to do that it would’ve been nice. But since this is an oldie we all know our elders wouldn’t have liked the ending of Salman and Aish together 😂
