This was remade from Telugu movie Okkadu acted by Mahesh Babu and Boomika and villain same Prakash Raj. In that movie role for heroine was suited for telugu audience. But there is no conflict between father-son in telugu version but enjoys his sons sports. But Dharani made more interesting and comedic in Tamil. There are many remakes. But only Gilli is the best version and most successful even now.

You guys hit the nail on the head about the female lead as her role in this movie is already a running meme to this day in tamil nadu😂 the actress who played the role (trisha is the name of the actress) agreed the goofiness in many interviews. She was supposed to play a no nothing naive girl who grew up as a country girl and she is all about the simple pleasures like having dinner with her parents playing outside with her brothers kind of person. Thats her world in its entirety. Thalapathy vijay and vijay’s sister are obviously kids living in the heart of city life and is all about the street smarts and surviving in the open with their friends. As always kristen and michael brought their fun vibes in this one which makes this reaction a wholesome experience to one of our favorite thalapathy classics to which most of the 90s kids grew up with in Tamil nadu. I highly feel you guys should do thuppaki or master next. If you like the chemistry between vijay and trisha you should definitely check out Leo from LCU. Also michael calling her a cardboard should be a Tshirt 😂
