Go for her mother's tone, not the words. She has been conditioned to be on top by her mother. Her tone of "ohh" when she said her rank was evident of it. Like Sakshi said Huma isn't used to failure, she has rarely seen failure m thus doesn't know how to handle it.

Jaby. Being a doctor, I can totally relate to the emotions of the characters. Especially in first year when you are away from home. You carry a lot of emotional burden. And in med school, competition is very intense. I remember, I came with the highest rank in my neet exam. But in my mid sem, I failed completely. My roommate she gave donation and joined and she was the topper. There was an intense jealousy between us. Today after almost 10 years, we are best friends. But yes at that time, we were the greatest enemy. So that's how it is.. 😊😊

I think Achara got the point of this episode spot on. Most people who get in med school are very intelligent and most of them are top rankers during their school year. Most people get a blow in their first year when they realise that they are no more the most intelligent in the class. About the mother, most parents get the same shock their children get during first year, that their child might not be the most intelligent in their class now. And though her mother's words were supportive her tone let this out. No one in India prepares their children for failure and they themselves rarely are for it. Funily,I told my parents in my first year, that I might fail in the mid terms just to prepare them for the shock and not to make a big deal out of it and I did not expect but they were kinda cool about it when I barely passed.

You don't understand the significance of phonecall to her mother scene. She phoned her mom because she was seeking someone to make her feel better and she can't go to her friends anymore because they expect her to be happy for them and don't even know that she needs comforting. She was hurt and was just trying to seek someone to make her feel better. It helped in that moment, but the next day when she heard Sakshi talking, for her, it was like she was bragging and that's why she lashed out again. She is trying to control herself, but she fails multiple times

And one more thing.. The stetho Huma carries is Littman. I remember my uncle gifted my Littman when I had cleared my final year mbbs exams becoming the first doctor of my family. Littman is 30 times more costly than a regular stetho which a medical student uses. So using a littman that too in first year is considered a big stuff.

That line when Sakshi said "People like us have to work hard" That kind of stung Huma because Huma is little bit privileged than the other two when it comes to support from the family. But sakshi's words felt more of a accusation to her so That hurt Huma.. Also there is a lot of Islamophbia going on here in India. Huma is Muslim and minorities have reservation than the open caste categories who is Sakshi. So that might have also hurt Huma. The general category people won't understand why Reservation is really important to protect minorities from discrimination. And these clashes happen between different caste or minorities students. All of them have different sentiments. So Sakshi tried to say one thing and Huma might have misunderstood that. This thing is so real here in Indian clgs. I am actually glad they included it. It's so subtle and people might not even notice it but it's very important. I love this show they have touched almost every topic they can possibly find.

I ve been through med school.. n yes these things shown are so apt.. the ppl who ve never seen second or third rank may get lower ranks.. n wen that happens, they r really taken back by it.. it takes a lot time to sink in.. btw, we study a loooooot in first yr of mbbs.. n yet we do find ways to chill at canteen n ve freaky fights like this.. like, now if i look back n see, i can just laugh at the silliness.. n btw, it's just a great thing to even pass an exam.. n the highest percentile a topper get wud be 75 to 80%..

Referring to Jaby and Achara: you guys are wondering why his dad won't approve him to be a doctor? Because his dad runs a canteen in the premises and he has seen everything that happens in med school. Wait for it, it is just happy and jolly phase going on, the dark phase is still to come. I am not praising myself but yes in class I managed to score top 3 hardly 4 but yes it never affected my friendship until I made 1ranker my friend and I got 2nd ,she felt jealous because of me getting only 1marks less,later after 10th oneday in 12 th she suddenly called me and was very excited to meet me,now I am in 12 th preparing for neet probably because of my good nature she never felt that jealousy from heart and soon recovered.Wish me good luck and bless me to do hardwork for my medical journey😊😊🤗
