It’s very interesting that this species rely on their fathers. Most bird species require their mothers OR both parents. I’ve never seen a species rely solely on the father.

There are many species of birds were the mother has no part in raising the young. It's actually not a bad survival strategy as the female can put more energy into laying the eggs, therefore producing 12 - 20 eggs per breeding season instead of just 2-3. Other birds that use this reproduction behavior are emus, ostriches, cassowaries, some parrot species and button quail.
