I like this combo; tasteful interpretation and feel. The Hub van Lar B1fits this tune and is ably used here and in other videos that also feature Ellister. Looks like it plays itself; we all know better, eh? Good stuff.

Just beautiful!!!! nice, relaxed groove making a very very difficult chart look and sound easy, about as good as it gets

Flugel hornist's sound and solo _are_ indeed brilliant-- but interpretation of the head -- "nice relaxed"? "tasteful"? (now that's bordering on racist) to me it sounds like Bird on prozac Sorry to be the only salty a$$hole in here but lets get real.
@tomchojnowski92154 жыл бұрын
Grant, Tempo and a relaxed feel have nothing to do with racism sorry if I offended you. I don’t think you ever attempted to play the head of this song if you did you would have a better understanding of what’s going on. Bird was a phenomenon that we were gifted with we try to live up to his standards when we attempt a chart like this if it comes out different then bird so be it we aren’t bird. To this day we are still trying to figure out bird, monk, trane, Bud Powell. If you don’t dig this type of groove then please don’t ever listen to Chet Baker. If I dig Chet does that make me racist??
