Young Aboriginal people desperately need to be inspired with confidence, self-respect & given hope for a future. They need a chance to throw off the old school cloak of victimhood, grievance, disempowerment & marginalisation, which this exclusive race-based & divisive aboriginal only ‘Voice’ in Parliament will surely perpetuate. We all should be treated equally as a people, not as different races.
@jake.e.wanabee5333 Жыл бұрын
Agreed, there are countless professional graduate jobs and UNI positions given on skin color, not on talent or ATAR or your GPA, or if you can accomplish the course, apprenticeship, or degree. That in itself is racist. We are one people, regardless of skin color. If you are intelligent enough to become an engineer, doctor etc., there should not be racially based preference given to those who are not intelligent enough to complete the degree, apprenticeship. To push through an indigenous applicant based on skin color and heritage and not on the grades which actually deem if you are intellectually and capable of successfully completing the required curriculum, is setting society up for failure. If you have an awesome ATAR, and you are indigenous, go for it. If you are a below par graduate, and you take someone else's graduate job because of your skin color, that is BS and racist. Please stop the Indigenous Identified roles for completed tertiary education applicants and please, base it on GPA and experience. Albo is doing more harm than good.

They believe that because they are educated they can speak for all of us.

Jacinta's advice to young Australians is rock solid, grounded in first hand experience as an Australian of Aboriginal and white heritage. She values both her parents and has learned a lot. To me her commonsense ideas on ways forward for marginalized Aboriginals sound much more effective than the voice proposal and a whole lot safer and more unifying for all Australians.
@oldgolfer7435 Жыл бұрын
More of the same does not seem a reasonable solution to close the gap that is so obvious. Price has become a darling of the right, including Andrew Bolt, because she tells them what they want to hear to appease a residue of guilt, still apparent in the wider population, in the hope that somehow the Coalition has the answers, which it obviously has not. Had "The voice" been legislated before 1967 it may have advised the government of the day that to allow unrestricted access to alcohol would be like leaving candy in front of an infant and telling them not to eat it. Liquor outlets thrived but aboriginal housing, education, employment opportunities and poor health remained the same. What as undisputedly the outcome was the necessity to vastly increase police strength in towns and communities, aboriginal female assaults and abuse and the phenomena of deaths in custody. There is no quick fix, and Price outlining urgent needs, and going against the voice seems disingenuous, but then she is committed to the Coalition which for the past 50 years or so has achieved little.

Thank you Jacinta🥰 you are a true Australian supporting all Australians no matter what their heritage. Yes23 Voice to Parliament, is what happens when the demand for racism, outpaces the supply of racism. While the Yes vote is collapsing, the question should be asked: how the hell did something so absurd ever gain this level of traction in the first place? Honestly embracing a group's cultural ancestry to such an aggressive degree, and using this cultural ancestry as an excuse, is clearly pretty racist. Equally blaming some other culture, and those belonging to this differing cultural ancestry is clearly and unquestionably racist. Equality, egalitarianism, fairness, justness, and equitability are non-discriminatory, evenhanded, and unprejudiced. The opinion that the colour of your skin, or the antecedents of an individual are the defining factors is narrow-minded, backwards, bigoted, racist, discriminatory, prejudiced, unfair, and insulting. Yet it's been the dominant thinking in the Australian government, universities, media, (particularly the ABC) and general public discourse for decades. This retrogressive, confused, righteous stupidity has to be walked back. We’ll be burning witches again if this continues. The echo chamber that has created ‘The Voice’ in its current form needs to take a long hard look at themselves; and their shameful, unjust, and discriminatory doctrine of critical race theory. And instead of pronouncing: racism, discrimination, unfairness, and bigotry upon any Australians who stand against ‘The Voice’ in its current form. They should examine the structural racism they intend to widen and inflate with the same furious incrimination. The Voice is not a path to reconciliation, and harmony it is a path to entrench structural racism within our nation's constitution. Something that should be abhorrent to all Australians but particularly so to Indigenous Aboriginal, and Torres Strait Islander’s. So please Greens, and The ALP don’t lecture and moralise any Australian on our tolerance, open-mindedness, or our almost universal acceptance of the Aboriginal people. The Voice is fluff, popular, crowd-pleasing, and overt virtue signalling, encouraging intolerance, narrow-mindedness, and dogmatism. Yet beyond this reality. The Voice is another expensive misuse of money that could and indeed should be actually being used to improve the lives of Australians. And perhaps even used to improve the lives of all Australians in need, without any thought to their race? Or their cultural background! Issues of racial and social injustices are hardly ousted by elevating and heightening race (cultural identification, credentials). Especially on a political level, but also within the wider community. The Voice to Parliament is all about adding a new “Elite Canberra-based bureaucracy” in the constitution rather than reconciliation or recognition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Australia has over 270 cultures, let’s embrace them all, but most importantly let’s embrace the Australians who make up our country first. The individual, and not limit Australians as only their cultural identification, credentials.❤🇦🇺🦘

Jacinta proudly rebelling against both cultural individualist oppression and misogyny and capitalist disadvantage - a shining light for all Australians to aspire to living their dream. The WA heritage act - holy crap - that was an attempt at a political coup, if it could not be legislatively revoked, revolution would be the only solution to such draconian outcomes, this proposed constitutional change is insidious, divisionary and apartheid in nature - pure evil (if the wider political landscape isn't already). Overfunded as a group but marginalised, at the same time - due to corruption within the corporations and hierarchies, such a national travesty. Surely it's the opposition party's job to challange and vote down bad policy? Remember ADVICE from The Voice has NO legal standing, it CANNOT be taken to the high court. If it is passed and made into law, it can ONLY be challenged if ILLEGAL (like RoboDebt -an illegal law).

Wonderful discussion Jacinta! I'm so pleased to hear from someone who is so passionate about your heritage & upbringing but understands the implications of bringing in a racist policy which will affect every single person in Australia. I love your work!

Ive heard Marcia Langton , ABC etc and now listening to Jacinta Price again which she resonates with me. I work in outback australia ( On WA's Outback Way project) but live in the inner city with gardian subscribing "laptop upper-class" white people that treat minorities as pets that need to be rescued to gain social status which Im starting to resent , I dont want to as I'm sure they mean well

Such a common sense approach. People like this with strong sensible approach convictions should be running our whole nation instead of the crxp we see, hear and get, going on in our parliament house.

I got one against it. We already have too many politicians, why do we need more? How about we abolish state governments first, then come back and talk to me. The answer the second time will still be no. Lol

An Aboriginal committee (like a board of directors) are not politicians. If they don't perform as MEASURED by Closing the Gap, they will be dismissed.

@Dont_Gnaw_on_the_Kitty by who and how? Do they get paid? I assume yes, by taxpayers. How many staff will each have? Offices that need furniture, what will the budget be. I have too many unanswered questions, and it's racist to ask any of them. They most certainly are politicians btw. Unelected ones at that, which are the worst kind. I'm a libertarian.

@@1986tessie True, your questions are important and need to be answered. But what happens if our DECISION MAKING becomes better? I would say we can reduce the $34billion a year and GET BETTER RESULTS.

It was really nice to hear from an aboriginal person that us white people born on this land have a connection to it and a place on it to. Now that is a unifying idea. I think she is way too smart to do it, but i would love to see this woman as PM.
