After the Halifax pun, Jack says, "Ruby Stevens must have hated that." He meant to say, "Ruby Keeler", since she was from Halifax. Ruby Stevens was Barbara Stanwyck's real name.

Funny…Ms. Stanwyck always looked more like a “Ruby” to me with her slightly exotic look, and real-life drama-turned- sophisticate background. Who knows? Maybe the Semitic name would have held her back in the beginning.

The Royal Norwegian Air Force moved its training base to the Toronto Island Airport (now Billy Bishop Airport), when Norway was under Nazi occupation. Toronto Union Station and the Royal York Hotel are still there, on Front Street, as is the tunnel between them. But the tunnel was sealed, about 10 years ago. The French-speaking man has a Québecois accent. Québecois (Canadian French) is a dialect that's essentially 17th century French, as spoken by the French settlers who colonized it over 400 years ago. It's the equivalent of speaking English using "thee", "thou", "thine", etc.

A few hours later, Jack and Rochester appeared on the CBC's "The Army Show", hosted by Johnny Wayne and Frank Shuster. Only the second half of it survives. Luckily, it's the half with Jack and Rochester.

Mary Livingston was from Canada i believe, she referenced Vancouver that I believe was her hometown.

Mary was American, being born in Seattle. However, she spent most of her youth in Vancouver. Her character was from Plainfield, NJ, and that is why Jack is "surprised" that she referenced her relatives/friends in Vancouver. Mary, in reality, was paying tribute to her childhood home, while paying tribute to Canada, which is what this broadcast was all about. Bringing our two countries closer to fight a common enemy was of paramount importance during WWII.

It was Jack's birthday but he should have tried harder with the script on this one. It needed a sketch with someone Canadian in it, like Don Ameche.
