Louella Parsons interviews Jack at home on the same night that he's having the cast over for a dinner party.
Louella Parsons was a gossip columnist for the Hearst papers. Her main competitor was Hedda Hopper; the two were the most prominent gossip columnists during the mid-20th Century.
The show starts with a repeat of the tour bus gag; Frank Nelson plays the husband half of a couple on the bus.

There will never be another Jack Benny - the greatest comedian ever. He was a totally class act- hilarious and he did not rely on crudity for laughs. The fact that his staff stayed with him throughout his career in radio and television says a lot about what kind of man he was

Jack: We're having Louella Parsons for dinner. Dennis: You promised us roast beef! 😂😂🤣😂🤣🤣😂🤣😂😂 Best line in the history of radio! Fun fact: Jack Benny did this skit on a later show, after Bob Crosby replaced Phil Harris. The gags were slightly rearranged, and Dennis Day sang "Because you're mine". The biggest difference I noticed is, in the later version, after Dennis says "if my girl reads that, she'll slap my face!" Jack responds with "Dennis, UNFORTUNATELY nobody's gonna slap your face!" 😂😂

Louella Parsons was born in 1881. Perhaps his oldest radio guest. 13 years older than Jack.

I believe that distinction may belong to Samuel Goldwyn, He appeared on an episode from April 6,1947.

I love the hair jokes! Mary tells Jack to “stop running your fingers through your hair just put it on!” 😂

By most accounts, Mary Livingstone (born Sadie Marks) was not the nicest person to know. Lucy Ball, who lived next door dubbed her "Hard-Hearted Hannah"
