It's not distillery only. It's a Tennessee only release, across a small number of TN retailers as well available at the distillery. I have 2 bottles and it's great stuff.

My parents were on vacation in south carolina. In a liquor store, the specialty case contained a bottle of coy hill for $350. I went for elijah craig private barrel instead because i thought that was outrageous. Now ive been hearing how good the coy hill is and ive been wondering if i made the wrong choice . . . Still loved the private barrel tho i just could not justify $350

Not a distillery only release. All my local stores in Tennessee got them albeit in very small numbers. I paid $125 for 155.1 proof of greatness!

I think it's like last year's Barrel Strength Rye release that came in .375ml bottles. They were mainly distillery only, but the Kentucky Total Wine stores got some, too

@@holdenmullaney1081 They dropped the same Friday the distillery released them. I think it was July 1st. One store still has them at a crazy price of 400. I know of two stores that said they are holding them until the end of year raffles. In Chatt

@@rdh5961 The 375ml versions of the barrel strength rye were part of the "TN Tasters" released all over Tennessee. They released these before they did the single barrel 750ml. You can still get quite a few of the TN tasters like the hickory smoked, barrel reunion, Jamaican allspice and twin blend. The latest versions are called "Distillery Series" but still being released all over TN. The two that just came out are rye finished in high toast oak and rye finished in high toast maple.

Was recently at Rainbow Liquor in Ferndale, MI. They had an allocated shelf, upon which was a bottle of Coy Hill. Inquired as to price, shop-keep says "seven ninety nine". I laughed, thanked him, drove over to Paradise Liquor a mile or two away, picked up a bottle of Remus single barrel store pick (5 year, cask strength MGP, which by the way is delicious) for state minimum and, finally, went and saw an Anthony Braxton performance in Ann Arbor. Im recalling a National Geographic issue (remember magazines?) in which the cover topic was booze. Alcohol does have some attraction within our brains due to some inherent benefits. Fruit eating primates could more easily smell lightly fermented fruit fallen on the forest floor. 2nd, the fruit os easier to digest and led to the eater gaining a better quantity of calories (a necessity in the wild). And lastly, the mild abv held antiseptic qualities that would kill harmful gut microbes looking to make us sick. Then we invented Happy Hour, over imbibed and destroyed our livers. The end.
