A trio of brilliant musicians playing amazing music!!!! Ravi reminds me so much of Wayne Shorter!!! Jack is a living legend and Matt is a virtuoso and a genius!!!
@michaelroth75747 жыл бұрын
Ravi's playing on this is particularly brilliant. And Matt's electronic wizardry on the bass is great too. Jack D was always the master and he still is, as good as ever.

Thank you for this. What a trio! Great music. Great musicians. All three of them! Especially liked the duet with Jack DeJohnette on Piano and Ravi Coltrane. It was the first time i was seeing Jack DeJohnette playing piano. It was as sensitive a piece of music as we can get.

Oh gosh... this guy is unsinkable. In his "ripe" age of 74, still touring all over the world, staying at the top of his game, riding his beloved motorcycle, and guiding legions of youngsters through their steps of becoming "the musician"... I tip my hat right to the ground, hands down ..... ♫♫ ❀♥(~‿~)♥❀ ♫♫

I think this trio and album is a fine return to form for Jack after some releases over the last decade of so which didn't quite work for me. But, hey, I love Jack anyway, a true musical adventurer and national treasure.

Is it fair to say that it was really brave of Jack to play Piano? Well his piece "Ode to Satie" was brilliant and it demonstrated both a sound musical talent and a wilingness to expose that talent to criticism of the toughest ilk. This is what I like about Jack.
@LOliviaCR5 жыл бұрын
Nope... that statement is not grounded in what is real.. He studied classical piano for 14 years before he took up drums and only shifted to drums on the rec of saxophonist Eddie Harris and in a recent interview comments "... and that worked out pretty well". He is a VERY accomplished pianist/composer and his own composition Silver Hollow (New Directions album) has been recorded by a number of other accomplished musicians.
