I saw that cheeky look 😂 how wonderful was this! Jack is a natural, Harry’s ready to try, I think you’ll have a couple little laborers before you know it. A fitting and lovely tribute, i’m very sorry for the loss of your friend; it sounds like he made a huge contribution to the young farmer community!

How funny. I find myself singing on tractors. Particularly on field work. Fair play to Jack. Seeing that brings back happy memories. I recall utter delight. When I was asked to top 80 acres of set-aside. With an MF35. I was out there for about 3 days. Loved every second. I still love doing it.

Great thing for kids to do, teaches them safety, responsibility, boosts their self worth, helps with their maturing process and much more :) Better than hanging around the streets in cities. Brilliant to see some kids getting a ´real education` :) Well done Jack. When the boys start doing more of this work you will need to go play computer games ha ha :)

I remember my 1st full day on a tractor bringing in round bales of straw on an old international ,I was so excited I couldn't wait for the farmers wife to bring a cushion for the metal seat ,after 3 days of bouncing around on it I shoulda took the cushion to save the back of the legs 😁

I can remember my first tractor experience rolling fields for my grandfather. Then a couple years later I was silage hauling and helping out empty the Lagoon muck spreading and fertilizing. I have so many good memories of working on the farm back in the 80s early 90s I hope in the years to come to see your boys do the same.

Fantastic. Give them responsibility and they'll be responsible. 👍 this is how i learned but our old leyland didnt have such a great cab. We have 4 children ( soon to be 5) so you can imagine the squeeze with all of them in the cab with me. Safest place for them to be though.👍
@funsi33 жыл бұрын
Ahh, now that has brought back some memories!!! chain harrowing was my first proper tractor work 40 plus years ago on a cabless 135 on a spring day. Worst experience was buck raking the clamp on a 590 which must have had the stiffest clutch pedal ever made!! My left knee has just started aching at the thought of it!!! Well done harry!!
@graemebowyer49013 жыл бұрын
I was a bit concerned about having the 2 of them in the cab together, but there were no issues. I thought Jack was very steady and did a good job, you must be very proud. Sorry to hear about your mate Brian.

My dad never gave instructions on how to do tractor work , he just said go out and we were expected to hook up and carry on.started when we were eight.nice to see the boys learning farming skills.

My first job on a tractor was feeding sheep with the 4 tonne marshall trailer on it putting bags of lamb feed in feeder hoppers and bales of hay into the feeders for the ewes think i was about 8 or 9 when i wss allowed on my own in the cab . Or no cab . I sat on my dads knees steering an old parrafin fergie no cab then onto a db 990 then various makes ovrr the years . Harrowing was one of my first jobs away on my own . Harrowing mole heaps in the spring grass before rolling them in the grass that was getting cut for hay . Ur son will soon learn the ropes . Its a huge step in a young uns life starting to drive the tractors those boys will have all the tractorwork taken care of now . Id lock up the landy lol haha .

modern tractors today are easy to drive. when i started driving a tractor at the age of 12 it was an old universal 445 4wd. there was no power steering the clutch was really hard to push down. it was very noisy just with the old Duncan safety cab. oh and the brakes were useless. but i loved every minute of it. we had an old fergy 35x as well. that one was used for yard scrapping. happy days

Last year a chap called Colin Francis how taught me lots of valuable skills as a teenage boy passed on, if I come across a youngster who wants to learn, I always try to make time and help, as a few "old hands" did for me. I learned on a IH250 that had little in the way of brakes.

Well done boys a good job there 👍🏻 You'll need to slip him a fiver for his days work Richard although looks like they're plenty keen enough. I had this same realisation last week that I'll be out a job in a couple of years once the youngest starts driving (he's 6 this July) we've two flat rollers for grass and last week was the start of our eldest (he'll be 8 in October) driving the second roller, made a big dent in the workload having a second roller going for a few days and it dawned on me once the youngest starts in a couple years il become a spectator 🙈 great low risk job for starting boys off is the harrowing and rolling, we are on mostly flat land up here which helps. Great video as usual Richard keep up the good work 👌🏻

good to see the lads enjoying a bit of tractor work. your lucky to have such level land . here in Devon we have some very steep fields or if you pop a wheel out over a bank you can easily tip a tractor over. looks like your future Richard is manual labour with the dung fork cleaning a calves shed by hand . haha
