I’m from Oregon. Was a huge Portland Wrestling fan. Worked for Don Owen in Portland as well as Barry Owen in Eugene and later Sandy Barr. Billy had MANY issues that hasn’t even been talked about. He was a troubled person and any thing he says should be taken with a grain of salt. That said, this interview was kinda a cheap shot in my opinion.

Two years later, and after just now seeing this again, I gotta comment! By lookin at some of the comments, I can see that there's a lot of folks out there that still don't get the fact that....Just like the thing that Hannibal did with Terry Funk..THIS WAS A WORK!!!!💯💯 So the way I see it....That just shows how good both of these guys are! I'm born and raised in Dallas Texas, and grew up watching World Class Championship Wrestling (WCCW) with guys like the Von Erichs Kerry, Kevin and David Von Erich, Bruiser Brody, Gino Hernandez, Chris Adams, The Freebirds, Iceman King Parsons, Jimmy Garvin, Kabuki! The list goes on and on and on!! Back from about late 82 till early 86, if you were a Wrestler, WCCW was the place to be!! The short time that Billy Jack Haynes was in Dallas, I believe it was in 84, WCCW was ON FIRE! Just as quick as Billy Jack Haynes got here to Dallas, he was gone just as quick! Not sure, but I believe I heard him say in one of the shoot interviews he did, he left Dallas because of a difference of opinion he had with Fritz Von Erich, but the little time he was there....Billy Jack Haynes was DEFINITELY over with the fans!! All these Wrestlers names I just mentioned, and a lot of others I didn't name, I personally got to meet all those guys, and a lot of others over time, but of all the guys I ever got the chance to meet, I can honestly say...Other than Kerry Von Erich...Billy Jack Haynes was one of the nicest, and most down to earth people that I've ever met in my life, and I don't mean just in the Wrestling world either!! Kerry Von Erich & Billy Jack Haynes.....Those two guys, at least in my opinion, was two of the most humble, kind hearted, guys who if they had the time, and wasn't in a rush, they'd actually take the time with their fans, and not just take a quick pic, or give you a handshake, and then be gone! You could tell that those two guys genuinely LOVED THEIR FANS, and they damn sure would let their fans know how much they loved and appreciated them!! They was AWESOME in and out of the ring for sure! This Hannibal fellow did a poor job of interviewing a performer that was active in a time when you were thrashed if you ran your mouth even deceptively. very fucking unprofessional anyway you slice it. i live in portland,OR w/Portland wrestling grew up watching Billy Jack & Rip Oliver, Rip's son Larry Oliver is a friend of mine in 93' portland wrestling went under Billy's life became exactly like the movie " The Wrestler" exactly he was homeless living in his van, stuck on pills, he got stabbed up & i dont know he is still alive now? but poking at an old man just not professional

It is crazy how they ended up becoming really close friends and did multiple shoot interviews.It kind of makes Hannibal disingenuous after having viewed multiple shoots he did with BJH’s which effectively disseminated the same spurious rumors that Hannibal alluded to in this interview. Be straight Hannibal you want clicks at this point and don’t care what BJH says as long as it garners hundreds of thousands clicks.
