Yeah the perk is broken. I use this on Leland and since the update it only activates when you burst out that's it. Basically the devs screwed this perk up like they do with every good perk

It's a pretty bad meme perk imo. What I'd like to see them do with it: you can immediately burst out of hiding spots (dont need to hold the button in), and it stuns for an extra 2.5/3.5/5 seconds, 60 second cooldown if it stuns a family member

​@@StephalumpThat buff would make sense if hiding spots involved some back and forth like doors, but rn it would just be bullying imo because it's a one-sided mechanic already. Who knows, the new map could have less doors and more hiding spots tho then it would make sense aswell.

@@OkMiddi if you really want to double stack speed, Slippery and Jumpscare is where it’s at (they stack, including with themselves). If you want to run forever, Cover Charge and Jumpstart both reduce stamina consumption. Either or, they are both super fun, so I don’t mind if you do either one lol

Couple Ideas - Sonny, but you don’t go for any exits until you’re the last one left. You can do distractions, stab grandpa, help the team, but try to stay out of areas that you can unlock. Try Stunt Double + Bar Room Hero on Ana Or Sonny with some proficiency. You can go up, do one little thing, and rest down a well a million times. Bar Room Hero helps with more than youd think - it also speeds up recovering on the ground, and with high toughness, you can be up in less than 2 seconds.

I use this perk for Leland as well. But I noticed after the update the perk does not activate unless I burst out. It does not activate when I get pulled out so pretty much the update messed up my favorite perk.

You should make a video as Johnny using the grandpa perk "suffocating grip" seeing as how the meta right now is victims grappling the family a bunch. I tried it out and got a 4k my first game through ONLY close encounter fights.

I would argue that the change is a nerf, considering it reduce the viability of the immersion-breaking playstyle of someone becoming practically immune by jumping into a 'hiding' spot in plain sight of their pursuer. With the previous version of the perk, you could immediately exit the 'hiding' spot and then even if the family member managed to do the poorly coded 'grab' context option (since you're immune to regular swings during the animation and you need to be like standing still next to a victim during their animation to grab them) the damage they inflict from that and any subsequent hits would be reduced. With the current version of the perk, you have to get out by yourself without interruption or the perk won't activate.

I should add that it is a buff for its intended usage - to be used in a similar way as Cover Charge. Cover Charge rewards you for being stealthy by letting you sprint more between hiding spots, whereas Jack in the Box protects you while playing that way in case you get caught, and allows you to take bigger chances while reducing the risk of actually dying.

I just watched video. The 2nd match family house right when leatherface pulled you out first time. The perk never activated so see what I mean they messed this perk up it is only activating when you burst out.
