An excellent book and a must-read. Supposedly Reagan wanted Kemp as his Vice President (in 1980). How different things would have been had that happened, and it was Kemp that became the Republican nominee in 1988 instead of Bush. In Reagan’s Third Term (an “alternate history” novel by Gib Kearney) Kemp beats Bush for the nomination, then goes up against Clinton in the general election. Too bad things didn’t work out this way in reality. The world would be a very different place had Kemp become our 41st president.
