So the Rdr1 Uncle is actually still alive, they recast him for Rdr2 and it was that actor who died during development. Also, Ross is wearing Uncle's outfit in this part of the game. A couple of characters were given identical outfits. Amos from McFarlane's ranch also wears the Uncle fit. No clue why they recycled it so much.

Headshots boost the meter a lot, and the meter gets boosted the most when the marker is as tight and white as possible. A single headshot at max power is actually enough to take out quite a lot of the random duellists you find in towns or poker players that catch you cheating. I can't remember if the side-mission duellists are any tougher.

Edit: I believe that you can only disarm in duels after completing the stranger's quest that involves retrieving the cowboy actor for the film director that you find in Armadillo.

If you get the reticle on a vital area immediately, while it’s at its smallest and without letting it expand even one time, that will fill the meter to the max with one shot. The mechanic is forcing you to actually do it fast without having to place your shot multiple times, so you actually one shot quick draw
