“First British actor who’s not from London to win” James McAvoy isn’t from London he’s Glaswegian...
@Anne18Shirley7 жыл бұрын
Amy M thus making James not British, but Scottish. so it still holds true that Jack is the first British actor to win a BAFTA who isn't from London. This is all strictly based off the interview above. 😉

That’s like saying Jack is not British, but English. So technically the first ENGLISH actor outwith of London to win.

He said in an interview on Conan that he has to "meet people halfway" in the US with his accent or they don't understand him. As a Canadian, how is that even possible? He's speaking English! He IS English. Oh the irony of demanding immigrants speak English in America when they need subtitles in some videos to understand a guy who is speaking the same language! First, understand your own language. Lol.

Chris Mac I think he meant that he tried to avoid using slang (in particular derby slang) to make it more likely that Americans will understand him

True shit right there.

In this interview he's articulating more than his natural accent it seems. He's pronouncing some words in a more R.P dialect. So he's doing it here which is why you can understand him so well probably.

He was in Starred Up and '71, both of which were very good, but it was all the other actors in them who made them good. All O'Connell had to do was look moody, scared and do a lot of running. He has the sorta rugged, pretty boy looks that's attractive to gay men, but no evidence so far of any actual acting talent (In Unbroken he was competent but hardly outstanding.) He'll probably bob around for a few years doin this n that and then end up in EastEnders. Sad that the screen industry can give an impressionable youngster false ideas.

+splinterbyrd There's no telling what the future holds. Jack O'Connell may well disappear. But he may not! He may continue to appear in many great films and farther develop his skills as an actor. I think O'Connell is outstanding, and certainly would like to see him stick around. I also feel as though in Starred Up and 71, he was required to look scared and moody and portray the character with truth. Ad he did! Well I think so anyway. But you know what, you are entitled to your own opinion. But there's no need to make harsh and unnecessary comments on the future of his career. Thank you!

Colm O 'Brien I just don't want the lad to be led astray that's all, acting's a hard profession to make your way in. But yes, if he develops his thespian skills - IF he does - he may go further
