I enjoyed Season 1 far more, I've watched that twice and will probably watch again sometime. This one, I don't think I'd watch a second time. S1 was far more interesting - more engaging array of characters, more intriguing story, better action and fight choreography... Just better all round.

I like that season 1 was they way it was. Really had people bought in and didn't waste time with setup like a lot of shows. I like that season 2 gives more backstory on what Reacher and Neagley actually did before the current story lines. Looking forward to seeing where the show goes in the next couple seasons.

Just as a point of interest, Season one was based on the very first Jack Reacher novel ("The Killing Floor"), but Season 2 was based on the 11th novel in the series ("Bad Luck and Trouble"). I don't know which book S3 will be based on. The novels themselves aren't all written in chronological sequence - the stories in some later novels predate the stories in earlier ones, like prequels.

Because of this, the second season strayed from Reacher’s true character as portrayed in the books. It’s also strange to see this female character fighting alongside Reacher, whereas in the first season, Reacher was on his own, staying true to his character from the books. This version of Reacher feels different, both in terms of the supporting characters and the plot, compared to season one.

In the books (because there are the books) Reacher is a beast of a man, and the character is portrayed perfectly here. Tom Cruise is the antithesis of the original. And Reacher was not in covert ops, he was a Major in MP, catching criminals that were trained to kill.
