I grew up in the 60s - a time when football teams were almost the polar opposite of pop singers and bands in terms of public acceptance (unless you were Elvis or Johnny O'Keefe). Real men played footy ... weak, long-haired (insert homophobic expletive here) did the other thing. Seeing this confirmed that those days are dead and gone. Two thorough professionals at the top of their different games, coming together through a love of music and riding a wave of joy. Priceless.

As late as 1986 we still had the Australian Pop Music Awards and even the King of Pop. It wasn't until '87 that the ARIA (Australian Recording Industry Association) awards replaced them.
