Getting stuff on greenlight/steam -> profit Registering something -> no profit Unless they are prepared for long legal battles involving damage claims and even then they would have win the case against someone citing "fair use" which is.... unlikely. So, no, these are propably fake. Also the maker of this thing is clearly not from the US, so unless he filed his potential trademark as an international one (which costs a LOT more), he has exactly no claims against a youtube video as these fall under US law. All a trademark does anyway is protect you against people who wanted to make a different game, also called "Jack's Gang" or possibly "Jack's Gang 2" and such. The assets you created are automatically protected under copyright laws as soon as you created them. Don't confuse those. So, it makes almost no sense to actually have a trademark here unless the author plans to make it a cool brand.

I think the one thing this game did well is actually having deltas that look really nice. I.E. the foreground and background move at different speeds to give the illusion of distance.

The police mechanic could be interesting in a proper sidescrolling beat'em'up, with a little more depth. For example, you wouldn't be blocked when they pass by, but if you did any fighting they'd get out of the car and attack you too. Or the opposite, you could call the cops and they would pass by, forcing the ennemies to stop fighting so that you can heal or something, or to break their combo. And if they carry weapons they're the one who would be attacked.

That's the thing; it feels like a game a dev would make as he's starting to get into really learning how to make games. Not particularly great, but not really broken or poor-quality. The artwork was better than a lot of Greenlight games, and the gameplay was, at the very least, functional. The dev just messed up by selling it. He should've put it on his website for free so he could get feedback on how to improve as a dev.
