Man so many amazing moments from this final fight in the series: from Holloway acting like a madman in the leadup and Volk to basically respond with: "lol ok," to him coming out to arena full of boos while staring directly into the camera and delivering one of the most heartleft speeches in mma I've ever heard, to pulling a reverse and actually talking and taunting TO Max during the fight before proceeding to put on an absolute clinic. Boy, if you're one of the 10 non- Aussie Volkanovski fans like me, I hope you enjoyed that sweet, sweet catharsis

I just don’t know where he should go from here. 155 seems like a bad idea. 145 is a mess for him. I guess if he could somehow clear the division so there’s no one else for Volk to fight, but even then that would be unheard of. He’d have to make some real style change or something. Could sign somewhere else like DJ? Idk it’s hard to see him go down like that but I don’t know if I see him fighting for a belt again with this many killers, even though he can probably beat most of them.
@SuperCrazyEstonian2 жыл бұрын
@@thekevinfoster Volk will likely move up. And right now, there is no real point for Max to move up, as it seems like he can make the weight. 155 is super tied up anyways. I would have Max get back to winning at 145 as whatever momentum he builds, he will easily take it with him if he wants to move up. And if Volk moves up, you know Max will get that title shot asap.

MW is the perfect division full of meat heads. The reason why Kelvin did so well was because he was the only guy who used his brain. Whittaker tried to fight smart, but was a little scared to let go in the beginning because he got caught in the first fight, when he was being a meat head and rush him. Jan also did well because he fought smart. If you want to do well at MW, be smart; that's how izzy gor to the top.

@@Name-ql7jf the probably isnt that he isnt getting in slugfests, its that he keeps overpromising and underdelivering. Besides the Costa fight, every one of his title defenses has been extremely lackluster. Adesanya definitely has the tools to absolutely destroy his opponents on the feet but he's a lot happier just cruising to a decision despite promising highlights and spectacular performances. Volk is really good but am I wrong for thinking 145 has kinda stagnated in terms of talent?
@gilbertoflores73972 жыл бұрын
It has more to do with the talent remaining the same, Ortega takes like a year break between beatings, gets one win and they're giving him a title fight, Yair, barely fights too but is somehow at the top of the rankings. Catter took a year off before this year, and has actually been the most active fighter in the division. That's should tell you all you need to know, nor enough of the top guys fight the lower guys.
@gilbertoflores73972 жыл бұрын
@Lessons in Logic bantamweight is actually the best division, because everyone has to fight each other. Featherweight and lightweight likely have more talented guys, and produce bangers whenever they actually fight one another, but they sit on their rankings and barely fight. Yair, Ortega, volk, and Max, only seem to fight like once a year, and all the guys in the 5-15 can barely get a fight. Same with lightweight, the top guys don't want to fight down. Bantamweights have to fight down, because they get the main event fighting bigger names in the sport, and will risk their ranking for the exposure. As well as taking the lower guy for a rebound fights, or someone like aldo taking a dangerous lower guy to remove all doubt about being deserving of a title fight. Bantamweight is the most exciting division because they're constantly fighting each other.
@LowkAlexander2 жыл бұрын
@Lessons in Logic 145 is in an odd space like others said but what I was getting at was Volk and max basically beating the same group of guys for like 3 years with no serious contenders. Kattar, Burgos, Ige and a decent portion of the top 15 have shown they arent top level yet plus the better match ups are at the bottom of the division but they dont fight anyone at the top. its a weird division and probably will be until they make better fights
