Because conservative media has spent the last 40 years building a fictional conservative ideologue that has convinced people immigrants want to kill them. That millionaires deserve to pay no taxes and all regulations are bad and get in the way of business and people's freedoms. That only republicans believe in Jesus. So when Trump took on the mantle of the fictional ideologue conservative media has been building up it got nearly half of the country to believe in that fictional person regardless of what the actual person is like. Trump has always been a Democrat with conservative business views. He ran as a republican because that was the only way he'd have a chance. So now the entire GOP is tied to the hip to Trump, because it's the only way they can win elections, by playing into the fictional Trump. So either they *all* go down together with him, or they never win power again if Trump and all his accomplices (which includes most of the GOP at this point) go to jail. So they continue to shield him at everything opportunity. It's completely self-preservation

Why hasn't Lincoln Project had people tell their story of how they watched in disbelief as Jan. 6th unfolded? I remember it very clearly, like 9/11, doesn't everyone? I was an elementary art teacher, trying to learn to teach from home: zoom on the monitor, while unbelievably- incredulously: aggressive, dangerous, blood-thirsty, white, American citizens were permitted to storm our Capitol building. That was real. On the TV. Live. Everyone must have their own surreal story I'm sure- someone make a commercial about that! How do you focus on working with tiny humans and fearing for their safety and the safety of our country all the while in a global pandemic? What were you doing that day? *please keep it to yourself it you were on a 'vaca in DC', I don't want to hear it. One of the most shameful, dangerous days in America and it effected us all.

@kendalldad17 сағат бұрын
@tubruton I get it but there are certain precedents even this court won't set. They did refuse to entertain his stolen election bs without evidence. They also know granting such unlimited power gives a Dem president that power too. So yes I understand that concern buy I believe this case is so strong it will stick.

Aussie here, these people would have gone to prison in Australia. Every single one of this gang including Trump needs to be charged with RICO violations. Federal prison for all.
@vickiep421716 сағат бұрын
I'm certain (well, 90%) that the same would have happened in the UK. Then again, our electoral set up is logical and aside from a few small attempts at gerrymandering in the last 4 years or so, is set up at national level. No counties setting up weird rules. First past the post is not ideal, but the electoral college is just bonkers. The way that some republican states are able change rules, or create court cases to make it harder for those that might vote democrat is alarming (including stealing a ballot post box), and if it was happening in another country, would have the UN voting/election watchers all over it.
@dr.g386016 сағат бұрын
I'm sure you know that the former president has been charged under Georgia's state RICO statute, along with some of his coconspirators, although the contrived delays from the defense have put that case on the back burner.

This JD Vance, perspective changed drastically from ultimately supporting Trump to having doubts when reality hit. Why is it so difficult for some people to acknowledge that Trump lost the 2020 election? It's also concerning that some individuals are hesitant to discuss the events of the 2020 election. It's important to remember that a police officer lost their life during the events at the Capitol in 2020. It seems that some Republicans are more focused on pleasing Trump than considering the future.
