Happy birthday, Jack! I think you're right that he was in shock because I don't think he thought it would be real. He's so adorable. Derek, here's a tip for you. Stop doing too much. What is it going to take for you to realize you can't do the same things you used to? I get it. It's tough. You want to get out and do everything but in order to be able to do something, you need to let your body heal and that means stop overtaxing it. You're gonna need your legs when you're 50 and 60 and you have to think ahead, which I know is hard for people in their 20s. Good luck in your healing process.

Totally agree with you, I just made almost the same comment, he needs to stop over doing things and allow himself to heal, they went wakeboarding for goodness sake, not good for someone who not long had knee surgery, the pressure you put on your knees doing that sport is unbelievable and he’s only young, he’s not doing himself any justice doing what he’s been doing…I’m wasn’t at all surprised when he mentioned what his surgeon told him, retired nurse here…🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🇦🇺

Agreed and if you need another reason other than your gorgeous family. I was the same pushed and pushed my body to its limits until it couldnt take anymore. I was young and invincible right? No I wasnt as I write this, albeit a different reason I am in my late 40's and bedbound, relying on everyone for everything. All because I thought I knew best. Sometimes growing up means taking care of yourself and saying no to some of the fun things you want to do. Your body probably already has many extra decades of stress than your chronological age due to the extreme sports you have done plus continuing to do them while injured. It’s hard, but you have to find other ways to get the joy other than physical abuse to your body. That’s if you want to have any kind of mobility as you are older. Your body is talking to you now. Be a wise man and listen to it. You don’t have to push the boundaries.

I had the impression Sunny liked being in the car next to Jack. I'm so sorry about your knees! And I really hope, that you are lucky and that things turn out for the better! Keep in mind, that the surgeries were not long ago. Practice carefully and give the structures a lot more time and care. Our knees have to carry universes of weight and your muscles are definitely not yet differentiated again. By that I don't just mean strength. Our posture and tensions in the body are all connected. A weak injury or imbalance always affects the entire system. Please keep in mind, that your shoulders and arms have been extremely unusually overloaded by the crutches and that your hips and pelvis, simply all dynamic structures, also need to be restructured again. You have to learn to find a healthy balance together again. This is a long process, that requires a lot of fine practice. Is there a good osteopath near you, who can support the process of your recovery? Of course, your thigh muscles need a lot more strengthening so that they support your knee, but I also mean gentle body work, similar to yoga, with stretching and fine-tuning strengthening. Have you ever heard of a balance pad? Ask your physiotherapist. Working with a balance pad is extremely effective. You can even stand on one leg while brushing your teeth and do the smallest exercises, while you do so. You wouldn't believe how much the muscles are challenged... A balance pad is actually nothing more than a block of foam. Due to the intentional instability of the foam, instead of the solid ground on which you normally stand, your muscles have to work many times over to keep you balanced. This strengthens them incredibly. Please understand my “comment” positively, as an impulse and a friendly note. I hope my English is understandable, I'll just learn it again. A week off of therapy, while healing, probably wasn't the best for you. I know you didn't want to miss the festivities on the house boat, but sometimes you have to make decisions not what you Want to do, but what you SHOULD do. This operation was to keep you walking as you age. Think about being in a wheelchair as you age instead of being able to walk. Walking on a boat as it shifts in the water, requires a lot of knee "corrections" to stay standing or walking. Sounds like you may have overdone it.

Babe. Babe. I’m so sorry to point this out bc I’ve literally been thru the same crap with people telling me how to parent. As my kids r now teenagers I can tell u 💯 that it really makes a huge huge difference! U guys letting him thro fits and not be potty trained is kinda bonkers! Like my oldest was supper spoiled and we r still paying for it. He is amazing as I know Jack will be but he making core memories and the harder u let him feel like his life is now I can promise promise u he will let it feel super difficult later while other people around him are going thru so much but he seems to think he has it hardest somehow ! (Literally quote me in 20 years!)

He's such a careful driver! My son went through limb salvage surgery. After 2 years, it still hadn't healed. We were told about the hospital for special surgery in NY, I believe it's #1 in orthopedics, but it finally did heal, thank God and we didnt need to go that route, but that was our plan B. ❤🙏❤ I will keep you in my prayers.

Wow, so unique...😮 Every KZbinr has one of those cars for their kids. Ok, I edited to say something nice. That's the best way to spend a young kid's birthday. Fun for the birthday boy with no anxiety of having lots of people around having and high expectations of the child. Best idea you guys ever had.

Life is progressive. It seems overwhelming to be unable to be super athletic at your age, but take it from a 69 year old, your goals are to be physically able to do normal and necessary physical activities and chores year to year. Go easy on your knees. They take a lot of trauma throughout life.

It's best for parents to just let their kid react however they're going to. For some reason, there's a common reaction to continually ask, "Do you like it???", or "Are you having fun???".
