I know I have a biased POV when it comes to Brits, but I have to say that I find them to be particularly articulate and witty. Even when drunk and starring in a parody, this guy's historically accurate ^_^ It just further validates my attraction for this culture!

That's an example of why I tend to prefer the US version. The US presenters unselfconsciously ramble but the Brits, despite drinking enough alcohol to render me comatose, still feel a need to maintain control and be clever. Most of the time they are trying to deliver the same lines they would if they were sober.

3:25 The truly interesting thing about 'Sir Walter & Tobacco' is that, in fact, he was smoking marijuana with the Indians; and marijuana has nicotine in it, so you become addicted to the nicotine; and, when you (an Indian) go off hunting, you don't want to be smoking marijuana, but you don't want to be withdrawing from nicotine so ... you smoke tobacco; so ... when Raleigh was leaving to go back to England, he said to the Indians, "I am going on a long journey, can I have some of that to take with me?"; the Indians, thinking he was going on a long journey and therefore did not want to withdraw from nicotine, gave him ... tobacco. What he really wanted to take back was marijuana!! England would be a very different place now if people had been drinking beer and smoking pot for all these last few centuries, now would it not ?.!}@..@{!.?

Pretty sure there’s little historical basis for Queen Elizabeth being in love with Raleigh, although it’s a popular depiction. Raleigh’s relationship with Elizabeth Throckmorton was actually very romantic: they were married in secret, which was the real transgression against the queen, who imprisoned them in the Tower of London for a number of years. In trying so hard to make this funny and dramatic they made it ahistorical, even though the truth is equally interesting
