i love how alike to their characters they are. kit saying ‘your boyfriend’s cute’ while jesper loves teasing wylan, and jack blushing and his body language is so wylan being flustered. i love them so much i can’t wait to see them in the show

I wish people would talk more about Wylan's special kind of courage / bravery. He's one of my favorite characters bc of that. Among the Crows, he is the one who hasn't been a fighter / soldier of some kind, the only one not hardened on the streets or a battle field; he can't fight physically like the others can, and he is not "psychologically" intimidating or imposing; but he still stands by his principles, he stands his ground, and he keeps his self-respect up, despite having been put down so awfully. He has this very stubborn, defiant sort of bravery, where he risks being gutted, refusing to back down from someone stronger - because of what he thinks is right. He has kept his kindness and hope and soft heart despite the horrid abuse, and even though he has the most reason out of all of them all to be a coward, he isn't. I find that exttraordinary, and graceful, and I'd love for the 3. season to lean into that more.

I actually watched the show before I read the books. I watched it and immediately bought the books and I adore them now. So I had no expectations for season 1 and I met the characters through the show. That's why Wylan is so important for me and that they portray him accurate. He's the only one I knew in the books first so I have high expectations. You have no idea how thankful I am that they casted Jack. Not only that he looks and talks and behaves like Wylan but also how much he cares about this character! He really seems to understand Wylan and I appreciate that he values every aspect of him and not just the obvious things. Also saints thank him for calling Wylan brave!!

This is why I love this cast and obviously the show. They are humble, care for their fans and are clearly into the material and characters they were chosen to portray (a shout-out must go to the casting team of this series) so brilliantly. There's no arrogance, preaching and moralizing. Other actors and other series would do well to learn from this. "Shadow And Bone" is a welcome respite from all the crappy entertainment floating outhere. It is also a good reminder of what creativity and imagination can do. It makes a clear point about what a great story and interesting characters can achieve versus other shows (which shall remain nameless) with astronomical budgets but lacking any originality.
