As a Cambodian who was born and raised in Sihanoukville, I can tell you that you were at the right place at the wrong time. It used to be a nice place to chill and enjoy sea breeze. I really don’t like the way it’s transforming now, and love the good old days better. But anyway, nice video and content guys. You make me want to travel to those places very soon even I’ve been there for so many times.

I went to Koh Rong in 2014... Your video shocked me so much! The island looks completely different! When I was there it was just a sweet little community with electricity for a few hours a day and chickens running everywhere haha. I hope it's still kept some of its charm. I remember the Sky bar had just opened and I didn't think it was that great... a few days later I told a guy at a different bar how i felt and he turned out to be the owner :') Oops.

Can't agree more! Was there in the same year - 2014 - and we could walk 2km along empty beach at daytime and every night we had skinny swimming - totally different "non-touristic" atmosphere it was. Ok, I'm in search of what could replace Koh Rong these days...

I was there 2011 and I have to say watching this and google satellite images the place has changed so much. We stayed at monkey island bungalows by the beach and it was around 20 dollars in season. There was no night life just the monkey bar/restaurant which was open later and after that we had a nice after "party" at the beach just talking and having beers no loud music or any of that party crap which you see in every place SE-Asia these days. I specifically remember the bar worked looking like an asian version of Kirk Hammett from metallica which was hilarious and he was so great person. One day we went for a walk on the beach where now seems to be 4K beach port. This whole beach was completely empty except for one guy and one house that he was building. He waved and smiled to use when we passed him :) I've been thinking this destination a lot since our road trip, but one thing is for sure. I will never visit the place again. I want to keep the memory of quiet, peaceful and paradise empty beach.

It is another nice video! It is next on the list to visit Koh Rong. Jack and Gab the word Koh is a very old Khmer word and it refers to islands and Rong means cave or shelter. It rains in Cambodia in January. It is a little odd, just like Seattle. We are drowning in rainwater in the Northwest. The dry season in Cambodia begins in November and ends in late April. Faites un bon voyage!

Me and my husband were there 8 years ago. Back then there were about 30 guest houses.no electricity after 8pm.no running water.the whole island has not street whatsoever. But it’s just way cooler. On the other side of the island there’s this white beach. Only one guest house located there.the sunset was amazing.and the planktons in the ocean are shining in the night. I guess now it’s all destroyed.

Jack and Gab Explore Kho Rong Sanloem is very quiet, I was last there five years ago.
@danporath5364 жыл бұрын
Jack and Gab Explore If you should go Laos, don’t spend much time in Vientiane (been there on visa runs a number of times) instead go to Vang Vieng. I used to be populated by drunk partiers going from bar to bar on the river from the 1990’s to 2012. The Lao authorities finally closed them down. The contrast is extreme, you can now tube or kayak down the river in quiet to beautiful scenery. The lat time I was there was six years ago, and you could still get “happy shakes” with kratom, but the party craziness is done. It is now more eco-friendly. Luang Prabang is great too! Beware Lao is expensive compared to other countries in SE Asia.
Good adventure. I've been to Thailand and Cambodia. They're great places for foreigner because dollars mean a lot. But be careful, Cambodia can be dangerous.

Just got back from Cambodia and honestly I did not enjoy the country at all :( don’t wast your hard earned money going there it’s stressful and disappointing. Food quality is not good. People are mostly dishonest scammers ( with a smile ) koh rong had lots of building going on I stayed where you are on torch beach Ten mozkito bites on the first night and little beetles in bed. Woke up to angle grinder at 830 am. Some nice beaches but go to ko rong salom to be honest after 1 month in Cambodia I was so glad to get back to Thailand. Thailand is so much more friendly and safer. If you get in trouble in Cambodia there is no help at all. Sorry if this is not what you want to here but I am being totally honest
