I actually love how all the chicks react. At first, they huddle together for protection. Then, when their sibling returns alive, they're like "AH! A ZOMBIE!" while their sibling is like "How, the fuck, did I get back here?". XD Nice of you to help them though.

@@NAIF-vq8iw Humans have already fucked nature up enough, why can't we do something kind every once in a while? The bird box is man-made, so there is already intervention there. Jackdaws are in the corvid family, and are opportunistic feeders. It's likely that it saw the chicks as easy pickings and isn't necessarily going to starve to death. It's like getting mad at someone for taking a plastic bottle out of the ocean because a crab or a fish might live in it.

I don't think you guys noticed, but the jackdaw pulled the chick out of the nest TWO SEPARATE TIMES, and both times they were both unharmed wonder if the jackdaw was even trying to eat it or it was just bullying them out of spite (apparantly the parents stole this nest from a pair of jackdaws)

Other three chicks are rather surprised (and annoyed) to see a chick taken out of the nest safely back by a human than the chick being dragged out out of there by a jackdaw. (I understand that's only their facial expression though.)

Это природа, однако. Ведь скорее всего, пустельга ворует и убивает маленьких птенцов галки. Только галчат в этом случае обычно не защищают. Она стремится сделать лучше для своего потомства, чтобы хищников было меньше. Iirc crows and ravens at least will harass cats and even kill their kittens. Might be something similar happening here, going after kestrel chicks to prevent them growing up to prey on jackdaws.

Jackdaws sometimes take chicks, I'd guess it was going to feed parts of the Kestrel to its own chicks.
