Love Jackdaws.. well any Corvid quite honestly, but in a previous house we had two visit us... they ate... next day the whole family turned up. VERY intelligent birds, they obviously have a keen way of communicating with each other as they'd said "let's all go here where we got food yesterday"... well obviously some of the group didn't like it that much as they never came back again. Shame. Lovely video though. We have lot's of Magpies and a couple of Ravens who visit every day. The Ravens are quite sneeky about how they go about feeding, but are friendly enough and getting more friendly as time goes by. I keep talking to them in hope they will befriend me further. We have a real wild bird sancutary feel about our garden and many differetn varities visit us throughout the day for food and water. I just love it!

Me too. I feed some local crows in real life. Just observing them as I love to, I can see even more and more how profoundly intelligent they are.. It's amazing, I feel like I can read them. And I can sense what they think about me in those very aware and observant minds of thiers. They're beautiful and charming. I've also fed jackdaws feeding right from my hand 😄 That's where they differ a bit from the crows, although the crows like me, they won't directly eat from my hand, YET, yet as they see more and more of me, some come actually more closer as I can see they are trusting me more 😄 Two of them that were particular close to me looked particularly relaxed, is it true that when crows puff up thier feathers, they are saying they're content?? I think I know that's the case for other birds, I think parrots but not sure 😄😄😅😁 One of them, as well as being puffed up, was also near me standing on one leg 🤣 I've seen certain birds do that as well before, but never a crow lmao. I get down too, and I'm like you I look at these videos and they cheer me up

I live in both New York and Ireland. My house in Ireland we have multiple Jackdaws that nest on my chimneys. When I am home if I walk to a certain area of my garden (it usually means they are getting fed) they all follow me and perch on the overhead wire making their chirping noises and wait for their food. It amazes me that I can be gone for many months and they continue this behavior and seem to pass it down (I don't really know how long they live, perhaps they are the same birds) In New York my relationship with our neighborhood crows is similar except they only seem to interact with me in the colder months about November through to March and then they don't seem interested in my feeding them once it warms up.

did you raise it since it was a chick? I currently have one I rescued and she is very tamed. I keep it in an aviary in my backyard, and occasionaly let she fly freely outside under supervision.. but always put it back to her aviary because I am affraid someone may kill it by mistake because she always seeks human proximity...she also don't understand than cats may attack her....

I was looking for some old movies in the attic today, and there's this old hole in the ceiling, where our lovely jackdaws sometimes leave droppings or feathers. But today, I heard all these little feet walking around, so I tried to caw at them, like they sometimes do. I didn't think I sounded convincing at all, but two came. One flew off when it saw me, but the other couldn't see me, so he actually tried to get in. He couldn't, but even when I used my real voice, he stayed.
