DICE have said in interviews that they didn’t really understand the magic behind what made Bad Company 2 successful. It contributed to their hesitation to make a sequel. They also didn’t know how to evolve the Bad Company series, and with Battlefield 3’s success, they shifted attention away from Bad Company.
