I remember being a kid and learning all this. It was like learning Santa wasn’t real. The fact is Jackie does so much in regards to his films. Expecting him to do every single stunt or movement is unrealistic. All those guys use doubles at times. They are perfectionists, and want the best take in the film. However, for someone to act as if Jackie has not risked life and limb in addition to writing, acting, producing, directing, choreography, editing, plus doing the theme songs, should take it easy. I'm sorry to everyone who's been triggered by this video but 99% of these clips are right. Doesn't mean he hasn't risked life & limb and done some of the most incredible stunts ever seen on film. The big stunts were ALWAYS Jackie. But he's always used doubles for certain moves in fight sequences. The rule of thumb generally is: If you can't see his face, it's probably not Jackie. He's not going to risk injury for a sequence where you can't see its him. And the only reason you can't see his face is because it's a double. Yuen Biao doubled him for years for the more athletic Kung Fu moves. He's been doubled for EVERY film he's ever made for certain shots in fight scenes or vehicle sequences. It's just a fact. I've been watching him since the early 80's and I've always noticed the doubles. Doesn't mean I didn't enjoy the films or the amazing fights and stunts.

In _City Hunter_ the use of a double is even more obvious in the fight against Richard Norton, especially as the last of the outtakes shows a man near to the right of frame who is dressed up in the same kind of costume as Jackie was wearing.

You guys do know he does all his stunts. The reason why he has stunt doubles is because of his injuries from doing his own stunts. Watch his interview about the leaps he did and almost died. Why do you think he broke every bone in his body. So of course since day one, I believe everybody has a stunt double for back up purposes if they weren't fully healed at the time.

Jackie has never done "all" his own stunts. This myth about him doing all his own stunts only came about when Rumble in the Bronx was released in the US and used as a gimmick to promote the film. Up until then in Hong Kong it was well known that he didn't do every stunt. Anything involving vehicles is naturally not him. As for everything else, Jackie has probably attempted it, however, if one of the stunt team performs it better then their take would be used in the film. I also think anything involving him landing on his back is usually someone doubling him. Most of the scenes in the video are correct, that it's not him. If it was they wouldn't edit the shot they they have, the camera would stay on Jackie for the whole move.

Besides the injuries, there is a reason that the second unit exists. When you’re acting, directing, choreographing, and recovering, you won’t be able to do everything on a schedule. As well as learning a specialized craft like roller skating or motorcycles which take years to perfect.

Actually everything is up to Jackie, maybe other members of the JC stunt team can do a particular movement better thats why he ends up being doubled? There are a number of reasons, either way, its just show business man, its waaaay easier and more appealing for the masses to put the label on ONE HERO, that just happened to be Jackie Chan, so they say JACKIE CHAN DOES ALL HIS OWN STUNTS! The reason why Jackie Chan seems to be like "superman" is because of this, everyone who doesn't know Chan is doubled from time to time see him that way, like hes superman and that image is the power of the entire JC Stunt team, if it wasn't for them then Jackie Chan would not be as big as he got, all of them working together with the mentality of basically making Jackie look good and occasionally talking the stunt for him or move gives that "image" that Jackie is way crazier than you think.. If anything the entire JC crew are all extremely fucking talented, I wish there were more making of footage of all the fight scenes so we can learn more about it, but guess what? The reason there isn't is probably because it's ment to be hidden and not talked about because if it was then Jackie's "Image" wouldn't be as strong, it would show all those moments of being doubled and the whole "Do my own stunts" would fail.

half of the scenes are not the final take of the film - they are the test stuntman take. Police Story displays this multiple times; in the JAPANESE CREDITS for his 80's films it has extended (even from the hong kong release) deleted scenes / takes / injuries for all of the films of that era - I can CONFIRM that Jackie Chan was only doubled for the roller blade SPLIT portion of the roller skate chase scene - The ramp was chan; he was already very good at roller-blades, in 1980 his first Hollywood film The Big Brawl had him in a Roller Derby fight scene --- (director of Enter the Dragon) Jackie asked him if he could have half a day to teach himself how to do a double back flip using the wall (skates would hit the sames wall twice while tucking himself in a ball and extending outward for a kick while landing on his back) - The director said "we don't have the time for you to play around" - "Will take me an hour and I'll have it" - "Sorry just kick the guy while skating" --- Him and Yuen Biao (whom in the VERY FEW actual instances Jackie was doubled, it was 50% Biao 50% Mars/Jaws - Now; the only times jackie would request a stunt double would NEVER be for a "Super Stunt" as they've been called due to how his stunts are... super - but the small things - especially after an injury. The only Fight scene that he required a double was his second showdown against bennie the jet in Dragons Forever - After breaking his ankle diagonally across he tried to do the take again (finale of the film) and ended up feeling the pieces of bone move and break into sharp pieces under his ankle --- so Yuen Biao doubled Chan for the spin kick which is on that foot against Bennie the Jet Even RIGHT NOW (I was on set for the fight choreography during the filming of CZ12, and most recently the upcoming films "Kung Fu Yoga" (wait til you see some of this stuff in this movie!!) and I was able to attend his fight scene and INCREDIBLE STUNT off of the Sydney Opera House last month while filming 2017's Bleeding Steel - He never used a double; nor was any green screen in use during the stunts or fights. After this incredible stunt sequence for Bleeding Steel HE USED A DOUBLE TO WALK DOWN THE STREET (the back of his body to the camera) for about 10 seconds because Jackie was being tended to for an injury sustained initially during the fight atop the sydney opera house (fighting while keeping balance he slammed his knee in what was supposed to be a round house; he mis-judged the railing and nailed his knee on the metal bar --- but 11 takes later he finished that fight scene but told the director to have someone walk down the street for him because "I need to rest my knee for a few hours" he said a few hours! The man is a legend, I've had the honor of meeting him and speaking with him in person on set the first time during NEW POLICE STORY (that was an incredible experience; I was an extra chosen during the double decker bus scene.... and wow; some people think the speed is altered when he jumps off the top and runs across the placeholder for a billboard; but it was ONE TAKE and he nailed it - the only difference from the film is that initially he jumped back onto the roof of the bus then backed up a few feet and just free fell; grabbed the top of the bus and kicked thru the window (the film makes it look like he ran across the billboard then thru the bus window; but it has a cut in the take; and either way its equally impressive --- I believe he would have kept him landing on top of the bus; but then "now how do I make it fresh to get inside" -- He did tell me that if this was 1988 and he was doing the same scene he would just try to go thru the glass on the first take (which if you fuck up; like most of his stunts... you die or... like Jackie take away one of his nine lives. Above the footage I can debunk majority of it actually being alternate takes prior to jackie doing the finale take; anyone who has watched these films dozens and dozens of times each can easily see the difference in the scene let alone the movement of the double versus the movement of Jackie. I appreciate the video -- but a full list is made public by Jackie Chan's Stunt Team that lists every time he used a double or was forced to use a double for some of the more "full family friendly" American films because as he stated "when I film in america that money goes to my Chinese productions - if I am making family film the kids like the action but the humor more so I save my health on specific scenes so I know I am healthy for the next big action film". Actually he did a lot of this stuff himself. He does use a double sometimes, but just because you can't see his face doesn't necessarily mean it's not him. For example, he used a skateboarding double for City Hunter because he hurt his knee, but for Wheels on Meals, you can find blooper footage of him falling off the skateboard while trying to do the stunts, meaning he did in fact do them himself. You really should verify each clip individually. Jackie does most of his own stunts in all of his movies, and all of his own stunts in some of his movies. That's pretty rad. Give the man his props.

@@sammysung3326 Stunt double for City Hunter, no double for most of the skating in Wheels on Meals. He didn't really need one for most of that film, since he usually just had to ride the board around and do some simple tricks. If you have the time and want to check it out, the Japanese version of the Wheels on Meals credits have bloopers where you can definitely see that it's Jackie and Yuen Biao doing the skating. Jackie falls right in front of the camera multiple times. Yuen falls less often. Yuen, you were always my favorite!

Of course he has been doubled. But please do not forget, he has also done majority of other jobs on most of his movies, like directing, acting, performing stunts, Script writing, Script editing, Video editing, composing music, writing songs, lighting, cinematographing, Even Manual labour and everything else that you can think of. He can only spend 24 hours a day doing most or some of these jobs. He occasionally gets doubled, not because he can't perform those stunts, but becuse he can't do everything else at the same time. Plus, some of the videos in your package were wrongly selected.

It's confirmed in the movie. Jackie himself has said that if there are any cuts in a stunt or if you don't clearly see his face, it's not him. This stunt has both of those. Plus there have been numerous people claiming it wasn't him way back when the movie was being filmed. It's no big deal - he's been doubled for all kinds of stunts before in Mr. Nice Guy, The Accidental Spy, Armor of God etc...

I was around for over 70% of Kung Fu Yoga (I couldn't make the travel across country for one filming location) - and for 2017's Bleeding Steel Sydney Opera house fight scene / MEGA STUNT and it was all Jackie Chan - He didn't even use a damn wire during the insane stunt you'll see in Bleeding Steel --- although everyone on set afterwards stated that jackie said "SHOULD HAVE USED A ROPE TOO CLOSE TOO CLOSE" but he looked so damn proud - and videos like this, within the month of being honored with the Academy Award Life Time Achievement during the oscars is another dis-service to who he is and what he has done.

This video is 98%:-spot on. Don't live in denial. This is how HK action films were made. He used his stunt guys as often as possible so they'd get paid more sbd so he could be behind the camera directing and to make the stunt or flip look better than he could do it. Lastly, just watch all these scenes on your bluray of the films in slow motion, step by step. You can clearly see its not him in the shots. That's enough evidence. Use your eyes. Thsts all you need. As Mars has a bigger bulkier body than Jackie and Mars was doubling Jackie for a number of stunts inside the clock tower leading up to that scene. Watch in slow motion if you don't believe me. His face is fully visible when fighting Lee hoi San. . There's no mistaking Mars. Ok, the 2nd take of the fall was Jackie because that's the only take where a continuous shot moves in to reveal Jackie's face as he's helped up from the floor by yuan biao. Also, Jackie didn't actually fall from the clock face, but actually jumped from the side of the first awning from a platform. Ok, the 3rd fall which you see go wrong in the outtakes was a 3rd unnamed stunt man from the team. He was smaller than both Jackie and Mars. There was a 4th fall by another stuntman but this one can only be seen as photos in a Japanese magazine. By the way, Mars admitted all this stuff in an interview once. PS- This video is 98% correct. It's not a case of opinions, it's a case of you can actually slow down the shots on bluray and see that it's not Jackie doing these things. It's hard evidence. Plus if you know how HK action film making works you'd all know that they choose the best stuntman/acrobat to make the actors look as good as possible when performing a flip or kick or stunt etc... it's all the magic of film making. Nothing is what it seems. For instance the clock tower in Project A was shot from a very low angle looking up, to make the tower look taller than it actually was.

@@goat8434 Incorrect. Jackie couldn't pull off such graceful looking acrobatics. A more acrobatic member of the stunt team did these shots.

@@spookyencounters9392 I think you forgot that Jackie Chan specialised in acrobatics. Yes Yuen Biao is better than him but he can pull them off and wheels on meals is a good example of that where he did them together with Yuen Biao at the same time.

@@goat8434 I'm not forgetting anything. Thsts not the point. The point is those graceful back flips off of high up platforms of rock were not Jackie. It's thst simple. When you can't see his face there's no point risking it, when one of your stunt boys can do it and if thry get hurt , the movie can still go on filming. Get it out of your head thst Jackie did all his own stunts. That's something the American media made up to help sell him in the US. , and Jackie just went with it. If you can't understand by now, there's no helping you. Get back into your bubble. Search for "Someone Will Know Me" on KZbin. It's a 1987 documentary about Jackie's stunt team while working on project A 2. You get to see multiple incidences whee his stunt team are dressed as Jackie's character doing the stunts you thought were him. Such as falling down the bamboo scaffolding. It was a guy in a wig and it was x shot in 3 parts then joined together in the editing room. The documentary can also be found on the project A 2 joy sales dvd. Do your research.
