I am a big fan of Jackie and I've been watching his films since I was a child. His best films are those from the 70/80/90s, especially those from the 80s. One of my all-time favorite film is Project A, but I also like Police Story, Wheels on Meals, Dragon Lord, Heart of Dragon, Armour of God, Dragons Forever and many more..

I started at Rumble On The Bronx when it came out, and went backwards through his films lol.
What I love about this fight is that it show Jackie Chan two greatest strength: 1. Use anything he can use to save the day, and 2. He ever give up no matter how hard he get hurts.

The second guy was a champion fighter, ala Bruce v. Chuck. Jackie got hit because the guy wasn't used to 'pulling punches'.

05:01 That's a member of Jackie's stunt team. The white guy was having trouble with the choreography so a lot of scenes he's being body doubled. In the making of clips Jackie is getting frustrated because of his inability to get it right

Jackie did all of his major stunts on the Rush Hour & Shanghai movies...in fact David Dobkin said in a post that it was an incredible thing to watch him work. That ideas flow out of him in real time & they actually had to chase him around with a film crew to adapt to what he was doing. "On of the things that was really amazing was watching him use sleight of hand...he's a bit of a magician...as well as a stuntman."

Rumble was first hit in US, But First Strike was his first International movie, Star.
@cherylcohen57002 жыл бұрын
The US version of Rumble in the Bronx is heavily edited...i have the hong kong disc and the whole film has more meaning when you see the what leads up to the scenes they kept in the movie...I HATE the American editing. There must be 15 or 20 minutes lost in the US version

There are so many fantastic Jackie Chan movies. There are only a few were he plays a darker, more violent character who kills. The two big ones that come to mind are The Foreigner and Crime Story.

Look at the tea room scene in Forbidden Kingdom...The director (who is a marshal artist) commentary in this scene remarked that he had trouble reconciling Jackie's power, speed, and fluidity of movement with his age & that theres a term in marshal arts for sudden explosive power (i cant remember it...starts with fen something) and Jackie has it.

Donnie Yen and Aidan Gillen were in Shanghai Knights and the final fight scene is the best depiction of a fight involving a sabreur that Hollywood has yet produced.

about that saber fight. Jackie Chan have mention in a interview. He said that the movie production team have hire a sword expert to help design the saber fight. However, after Jackie Chan and his team talk with that sword expert, they feel that if follow what that expert information to design the saber fight, it is not good. So they just design by thier own way. The result is pretty good.
@cherylcohen57002 жыл бұрын
BTS...Jackie trained Aidan for the closeup sword scenes. The wide angle sword fighting with Jackie was done with an expert swordsman. In one part of it you can actually see the guy's mustache if you freezeframe.

You know what is funny, both are Jackie's bodyguards.
@frostyfingers92825 ай бұрын
That's not true. The tall white guy is Ron Smoorenberg and absolutely not Jackie Chan's bodyguard. They had never worked together prior to shooting this. The other guy is Yung Kwan, who occasionally worked with (but wasn't a full member of) Jackie's stunt team. Jackie's real bodyguard for a long time was Ken Lo, who appears as the final villain at the end of Drunken Master 2. Maybe that's what you're thinking of.

Yeah he's pretty good but the opening jumping kicks and spins were Brad Allen who IMO was better. Watch his fight with Jackie in Gorgeous if you haven't seen it yet. Also, Ken Lo in Drunken Master 2 went crazy with his kicks as well.

He still does his own stuntwork...BTS for his newest movie, Ride On shows Jackie still performing his own work at age 68...though it is true he has mainly given up on the super crazy stuff as he should and they now insist on him using the safety equipment. He will be 69 when this film premieres. I think that's pretty damn impressive for someone who has pushed his body to the limit
Fearless Hyena is imho his best film for kungfu, but in terms of stunts, Rumble in the Bronx all day.
