I could be wrong but I don't think they were trying to portray her as rude (although the comment from the audience member after her first comment was pretty funny lol) But more just embarassing because she ends up going on a rambling angry tangent about herself then messes up the cue cards. It's not exactly awful but it's unintentionally hilarious. I'd be humiliated if that were my mom, too.
