It's easy to get emotional, for most people anyway. To be honest, I do wish we had more of that in F1 today; remember Rossi vs Biaggi in MotoGP back in the early 2000s? ;)

I'm from Brazil and I've watched many interviews of Emerson Fittipaldi. He always have words of praise for Jack Stewart, telling how he was fast and competitive with a clean drive, not putting other drivers in risk, a pure artist on the track and a special human being.

Legendary driver. He had some very detailed feedback on his series about cars like the '88 March or Lotus car. And he had his mistakes, too: he binned the Jaguar sportscar in the same series.

I remember following his career when I was a young lad. In my young mind, I envisioned him as a Craftsman instead of a driver. To see him walking around the Paddock, carrying that signature white helmet with the Tartan image. That may as well been his lunch bucket to me because he was there to do his days work with the pride of a Scotsman. Wise words from a wise man.

Jackie downplays just how good he was. He had 100 F1 races between 65 and 73 (dont forget all the different classes the guys raced then too) Won 27 of them and finished on the podium 43 times in total. Monster numbers.

Minor point, but Stewart only made 99 starts, his last being the Canadian GP in 1973. Stewart's team withdrew from what would have been Stewart's 100th start in response to the death of Cevert.
