Most times I have some time to do anything creative I just talk myself out of it by saying: "Let's just watch Jackie do it and learn from her" :) I also admire your determination to go on after making a little mess, I just get stuck at that point :)

@@jackieschomburgart I use the same method going to the gym. I tell myself “We only have to go there and get changed, we don’t need to work out “. Obviously when you get changed you are not just going to go home again. 😂 Works every time!

I want to paint every day.. but I do talk myself out of it. I really need to organize my space. It's a mess.
@jackieschomburgart11 ай бұрын
Having a clean space does help me begin painting with less resistance, that’s true. Or at least that’s how I imagine it has worked. Somehow every time I clean my desk up, I make something right away and it’s messy again. I have a filing system that I like to call “piles on the floor” that really helps me tidy my desk in no time! 🤣🤣🤣

And that I can always add another layer of paint. Thank you!

But, your panels are inspiring me! I like how they turned out... but I was screaming at my phone when you covered up the Celadon green and the reds! 😂🎉😢❤. Guess I'm gonna hafta buy some Celadon green and create some collages/abstract paintings on new supplies I got for Christmas. Rock on, Jackie!

I have a broken foot right now and it’s hard to get around so I haven’t been able to do what I would like to do. But I have all, the paints and papers and brushes and I’m ready to go as soon as I’m able. Love your stuff Jackie, and every single time I think” oh, I love it” …. And then you do something that I think is ruining it….. But no you keep going and I love it again. You always pull it together again! I learn a lot from you! My problem with time for painting is that I’ll wake in the middle of the night and think Oh yeah, got an idea and I’ll just do a little bit, and then it’s morning and I realize I’m going to have a really really tough day staying awake for the rest of the day! Gotta learn to talk myself out of that habit….🥴

I love these. Through various videos I love when there gets to a point where you add something, be it some collage or a certain paint etc and it transforms the art. The softness in this video reminds me of Turner's work. Speaking personally, my adhd brain works with the anxiety of I know I only have x time and I can't be late and I can't start this and stop part way through, so I end up not doing any art. On the odd occasions I have managed to do it, it's been a good learning experience as I find I do things differently depending on whether I'm constricted by time or not. I love seeing the way you use so many different techniques and objects to create your art. I need to make a list so I can try them too. I'm signed up for January's class and can't wait. 😁😁😁

Fun! I leave a current project on the work table surrounded by supplies so when I walk by, I’ll want to stop and work a little. It really helps! I like your floor piles idea but already I’ve got so many piles from bringing things back from my father’s house after it sold. My motto is slowly, slowly peck away at it, there is time. ❤
@jackieschomburgart11 ай бұрын
Yes, it’s much better to go through the things as you’re able. My piles are only helpful in the short term. Long term they add up quickly and become a nuisance 😆

Beautiful as always Jackie :) My struggle isn't so much with making art when I don't think I have enough time but telling myself I can't do it because my attention has been on more mundane things for a prolonged period and I think the 'quality' of my attention is therefore ruined for art-making. It seems to be all or nothing -- I think what would help (and I'm realizing this as I'm writing) is if I begin by having some projects set aside for those times, projects that don't require all out full dedication but still allow for some kind of art-making under any circumstances (I think that's my new mantra: *art* *making* *under* *any* *circumstances* ) Thanks as always for your infusion of thought-provoking inspiration ❤🧡💛

I'm sure I'm not the only one who is both inspired by your talent and appreciates the encouragement you offer us to believe that we can and probably will enjoy ourselves and maybe come up with something we really like, if we just start.

Greetings Jackie. Watching this video is Art medicine! Talking myself out of making art is an issue for me as well. My tendancy is to get all the non-art things (eg chores) done first, in order to have 'clear and free' space to create. Before I know it, my day is done, without art due to lack of inspiration. Art journaling is a quick remedy for me to address those moments when self-sabotage creeps in. By taking a fews minutes for intuitive mark making helps me to shift energy that would perhaps leave me feeling stagnant and guilty. Working with just lines to keep things really simple in such cases, evokes a sense of accomplishment that some aspect of art was made rather than nothing at all. Applying your approach to grids and collages has been super helpful when I experience creative blocks. Therapy! Thank you always for your authentic sharing.🙏🏽🥰💖✨💖✨💖✨💐💐💐

Ohhhh Jackie!!! I want to grow up and be you!!! (I'm 62 y/o BTW...). I could watch you paint all day long!!! Truth be told, I have done just that by taking a few days, where I binge on as many of your videos and shorts, (whether I have seen them before or not...), as I can fit into the time I make to do so!! Question: Do you ever travel to the Richmond, VA area, to give classes? THAT is a class that I would definitely travel a bit and spend my money on, whatever the price!!! I did it for Dina Wakely a few years ago and wouldn't mind having a learning/"fan girl" day with you!!!!! Have a great day!!! 🙃😊💚💚💚😊🙃

The thing is….when I don’t talk myself out of it (if i only have little time), the other things that need to be done suffer. So I burned my dinner many times because i was cooking while giving in to a creative urge. And i get really grumpy if i am in my flow and then have to stop after 20 minutes. So better for everyone involved that i create when i have time😎💖🍀
