You had me guessing what it was, right till you put the series of holes in. Then I knew it was a wind instrument, but not which type. That, I had no idea of, till I saw it played, as I couldn't figure out what the knob was for. It is a lovely instrument! What a gift to be able to "make" music!

Not at present as I turn maple burl . A bit hard with the grain direction changes. I prefer a 5/8 long grind or the 40.

Hi Joey. Thanks for the feedback. This was the first time I have crafted a flute and it was made to the specifications of a client.. He was happy with it. If I decide to produce another in the future there are certainly some steps I would handle differently second time round. Thanks for watching 😁👍🏻

That would lead to two hold that don’t meet in the centre mate. I have the “boring” equipment to drill straight long holes but the bore is only 10mm in this instance the bore needed to be 14mm. The reason the spindle was kept so wide was to allow for the inevitable drift of the bit through the piece giving a uninterrupted hole through the centre, which is important to get the right note. Cheers for watching 🤙🏻
