Thank for sharing, great looking stool. I’m not a turner but I really enjoyed watching the stool evolve without narration. I’m also not a laminated stool maker so this is not a criticism, however, I’m wondering if the seat was a little thinner if the stool would have still been solid?

Great video. 2 questions: would to consider a video showing how you sharpen your tools? An, what’s the purpose of the wood chip in the hand against the wood after you’ve sanded?
@gregj264720 күн бұрын
With the chips he’s burnishing the wood. It’s like using really fine sandpaper
@JackMackWoodturning19 күн бұрын
Yeah as Greg said it’s burnishing, cheers for that Greg. I am creating tutorial videos in the new year. Sharpening will be the first of these videos. I’m sure all turners will find my tutorials very helpful indeed.

That drill press is the most unnecessary use of modern tech I’ve ever seen. It’s also the only kind of tool I want in my woodshop.

Haha, it easy to think that at a glance. But it’s actually very useful especially for drilling non through holes and metals

My question is how did you get a good fit where the main legs enter the bored holes in the bottom of the seat when it looked like those leg holes were drilled straight vertical into the seat bottom? I’ve made myself a shop stool of something similar but those holes had to be bored at a compound angle to make the legs splayed out enough and fit the bored holes at the correct angles.

That push block is TOO CLOSE TO THE BLADE! Judging by the bruises and nicks on your hands, you are not the most aware or careful carpenter. You need to be afraid to a degree and careful with the machines and tools. If not. You are gonna lose fingers. I quarantee this.
@JackMackWoodturning7 күн бұрын
Jeeez, you people. That pusher is absolutely fine running over the blade,, it’s made of plywood, there is no harm in it being cut by the running blade. It is sacrificial and the perfect way to make tight cuts like that. Experienced woodworkers know this stuff. You don’t know it but you are part of the group of people who ruin real information on the internet by giving advice when you lack appropriate experience or expertise.
