i just bought this gun about two weeks ago and my fucking god what a pile of dogshit. i had to send it back to Taurus immediately. out of 100 plus rounds that went into the chamber it only fired maybe 15 x's, the rest of the rounds went into the trash and of course i saved some to inspect. i most likely got a lemon, unfortunately. pretty frustrating for first time gun owner trying to just have a little fun. im not saying do not buy one because i fell in love with it when it did shoot, that includes the accuracy. i don't shoot guns consistently enough to be any good with accuracy but holy cow. Accuracy i would say is top notch compared to my pos lcp2 380. i know its like comparing aplles to oranges which doesnt say too much. i wouldn't trust that lcp2 380 with your life. your better off throwing it at someones face at 10 feet and have a better chance of hitting that person in the face with it. as with the tx22 only time will tell.

@@jjq6336 glad i could comment again. i had to send back my taurus back twice. some kind of manufacturing defect. anyways, the taurus tx22 will eat anything you put into it and it super accurate. i now have an fn502 what a sweet sweet gun. now i can say that the fn502 has a longer breakin period. i experienced a crap ton of issues with it as well. but after a good cleaning @ 250 rounds and 600 rounds, the 502 is a beast as well. just picked up a keltec pmr 30. Holy fucking cow what a joy to shoot. With the keltec i have determined that it needs a cleaning after 250 rounds. an immediate cleaning. if you pick up a keltec pmr 30, send it back to the manufacture right away to be properly fixed. they will upgrade it for free as there were serisou issues with them in the first batches that were made 10 years ago.

Good gun, good maintenance will keep it that way. I use it for concealed carry (never under estimate a CCI supersonic 22 LR hollow point especially with this gun. Quality, rounds and controllability make up for bigger caliper guns with fewer bullets.

Very Nice review/explanaion of the TX22! Great trick to make it shoot the subsonics for rifles! I suspect its the combo of the extra optic weight and the -10% spring. I will find some and try it with my TX22 Competition top and see if it works in that with the -10% spring.

FWIW you can buy the TX22 competition slide/barrel/sights/guide rod an spring from Taurus site for 199.99 It should run a bit better and have a lower sight picture as its mounted to the barrel with a plate. You can have a Reflex sighted setup with an inch longer barreI and lightened slide, and a regular Iron sighted setup as well. If your new to red dots this is a great way to try them. I just ordered the competition upper for mine so Ill have a 22LR combo, kinda.

@@TheMcpvideo I did occasionally have that happen - I swapped out the standard guide rod/spring assembly for the one from Lakeline and the problem went away. I bought my TX 22 and the same setup. I have a question for you. Did you put the 10% less spring on at the same time you put the ADE sight on it? I ask because I have the same setup without the 10% less, and it will not cycle properly. I removed the sight, but not the plate, and it cycled properly. Now I did put the ADE on before I ever shot the pistol, so I had no previous experience with it. I have now ordered, and installed the 10% less spring, but have not been able to go test it yet. Any info would be helpful. Thank you, Frank

I did it at the same time. I figured the added mass of the sight might mess with the cycling. I still have issues cycling sub-sonics without a suppressor but as soon as I screw on the suppressor they cycle fine.

I believe this is a TX22 Compact which is not the same as the TX22. The TX22 does mot have the ability to add a reflex, bur new model coming this year for reflex. But I like the vid!
@jackofalltrades7822
@jackofalltrades7822 20 күн бұрын
This is not a compact. The reflex sight can be added the Standard TX22 but you have to remove the rear sight and install and adapter plate from a third party to use the reflex. You can see the red adapter plate below the sight. I talk about it at the 7:00 min mark. This is the same TX22 that I reviewed the year before. To your point, the TX22 compact does allow for mounting a reflex as do several other versions like the TX22 Competition. Thanks for watching.

What ammo cycles reliably in your Taurus with this optic mounted
@jackofalltrades7822
@jackofalltrades7822 6 ай бұрын
Great question. Adding the sight does add mass to the slide and as you would suspect that can effect cycling. If you don’t change the recoil spring, mine fired everything except the CCI Quiet subsonic ammo. Bulk pack ammo and standard velocity cycled without issue. When I changed the recoil spring the CCI Quiet for semi auto firearms cycled fine. Thanks for watching.

I assume you are talking about a Buckmark Camper. Which is better… that is pretty subjective. There are pros and cons to each but at the end of the day I usually reach for my Taurus. It weighs half as much, holds 6 more rounds, and shoots just as good. The Buckmark is a great pistol too but I just like how the Taurus feels in my hand. Thanks for watching.

It's finally available in my country too. I've been intending to get back into shooting and wanted a 22lr to suit myself and my daughter. When looking at the available options every second video was this gun and I am still so very impressed with the range of people who rate it. The competition model with the barrel mount baseplate is the one I've seen available so I think that I will be grabbing that when I am finally allowed to own one. It's comparable with the buckmark in pricing. Thanks for a great comprehensive review Ed.

@jackofalltrades7822
@jackofalltrades7822 Жыл бұрын
That is fair. The gun has performed perfectly. Over 2k rounds through it and very few stoppages. I generally attribute infrequent stoppages to the poor nature of rimfire ammo. I have had no mechanical failures, nothing broken, no warranty issues and the gun simply runs. The only issue I have had was after adding the sight. It added weight to the slide and subsonic ammo had difficulties with stove piping and failures to eject however, with the suppressor, those problems were not present. I imagine it was due to an increase of back pressure created by the suppressor. This is why I added the lighter return spring. I hope this helps you out.

@@jackofalltrades7822 Been using firearms for 25+ years now. Mainly .22. I know all about reliability issues, which stem from bulk pack ammo getting their primers knocked loose and not working or just bottom of the barrel ammo, which is now Winchester. The reason CCI constantly works is because they are in actual boxes, kept from knocking the rims around. Some people, that is the only option, some people can't handle anything more. .22 isn't as bad in reliability as people think, just the ones who know no better, use junk ammo, or never clean their gun.
