First off: Very Nice Camera Work and blocking, Second : Great ambiance & Drama building sound track 👍very Cinematic! Also your news paper reading was Perfect very nice touch! Down here we have University of California News Paper Archive. Any property town or mine that I want to investigate that is a gold mine of information at your fingertips!!!! Just love the visual way they wrote back then . Such a great resource on so many levels! What you discover that Back then in the 1850s they thought as we did that their technology was the same a we do today. They had the new Steam train and telegraph to communicate coast to coast in a second!!! to them that was their version of the internet & Jet plane… In my travel I too have discovered incredible feats and incredible 1850’s Con-Artist that I did a story after investigating a Gold mine !!! All frozen in time that are mind-boggling… it seems that people in general were not much different only thing different is they didn’t have cell phones, Lol! As for the Stonework that was incredible such skill and labor to build that … My First thought was a water Flume for to power the mill… water is very powerful energy & In California Flumes were very common… but on second thought… maybe not. Extremely Interesting Area! and without any doubt the more you look the more you will find! Thanks for sharing! Gerard

Jack, Merle Brown had a mine map from the 1950's showing a drift and the mid point between the two levels.

The small mill was put in the 1950's. They mined the lower adit at that time.

Jack, my deceased partner Merle Brown used to have the Cap Martin as a claim. He was a placer miner mostly and found some good ground there but gave up do to access and his age.

The upper level is caved at the rear incline shaft but the inner shaft to the lower level is open.

Mer;e worked in the Buffalo mine above there doing some exploration for the owners. He and his partner found a rich vein but covered it up and didn't tell the owners thinking they would buy the mine later.

The water came from the lake at Mt/ Ireland at one time.
