The G.O.A.T. This is my favorite song of all time and I’m 63 and an avid music lover since my childhood growing up in Detroit in the 60’s Motown drowned in sound. But when this came out in the 80’s I played it and sang along a million times. I wore out all her albums on repeat! What made her stand out aside from the obvious, were her wonderful songwriting talents. She could be a wonderful storyteller. She knew how to evoke colourful, vivid imagery and she had deep, broad vocal and musical talents to deliver her songs. Portuguese Love is a great example. Who knew anything about Portuguese Love until Lady T sung about it? I wonder how many sisters travelled to Portugal after hearing this song " I am going to get me some Portuguese Love, lol..

I heard this joint driving down 580 freeway from east Oakland California to San Francisco Bay Area on the Soft and Warm Jazz format radio station KBLX back in the day. It was a warm summer night in the Bay and listening to this joint driving over the San Francisco Oakland Bay Bridge blew my mind. Of course I had sparked up earlier made it even better. R.I.P. Lady T one of the all time greats.

What makes me so sad in my heart is that I didn't know how rich and wonderful this music was as I grew up with it. Of course I loved all this music as a young person. It's the soundtrack of my life. Whenever I hear songs like this I have to close my eyes wide shut.That's my way of feeling a song deep in my soul.This is definitely one of my top ten Ballads of all time. It may interest those that don't know Teena Marie's song "Oooh La La" was reworked and used on "Fu-gee La". Her influence cannot be denied. Even her song "Square Biz" was reworked on the chorus on "Firm Biz". There will never be music like this ever again. Thank GOD that you are showcasing these alltime classics for people to appreciate the pioneers.
