lauryn hill was never under rated though. her solo debut broke several records at the time. (many of them have been broken by some other artist later) but she was once considered and treated like a musical genius by the music industry.

Wtf underrated? She annihilated the Grammys with this album. She won 5 grammys in 1998 for this album including Album of the year. She won every major category she was nominated in for the "miseducation of Lauryn Hill album". Not to mention she won a Grammy when she was part of The Fugees. Definitely not underrated whatsoever. "Doo Wop" and "Everything is Everything" and that album also one multiple VMA's, Billboard Awards, American Music awards etc etc....

Gotta say, Google the women she invokes in this prayer. Cleopatra (powerful), Nefertiti (beautiful), Sister Betty (wise). All strong and incredible women in their own right. Here is a tiny detail y’all young people might not notice. Develop a negative into a positive (picture) was also the physical /chemical process to develop photos. You received your negative photos from the lab to reorder more copies (positive pictures). To me this has such a double meaning because I’m old and that’s a common term we used to say. To develop negative pictures meant to get copies.
